Hey Coach P-
Just checking in to say hi. Started adding the swim workout in Friday. I'm still slow but very happy to get back into the pool. The break from swimming was great. Very very happy with my run durability and fitness level right now. No injuries and I feel pretty good. Looking forward to IMTX training. Happy New Year!

Water feels great!! I was in Gulf Shores, Alabama this past weekend and pulled on the ole wetsuit, neoprene booties, and cap and had a go of it! it was freezing but awesome!! I really enjoy ows more than the pool.  But then again...who doesn't

Biggest thing i'm working on in the pool:

1.) paying attention to my core and keeping my hips/legs from dropping.

2.)  doing all the sets you suggest (I get really bored with myself in the pool).  I think I am going to invest in a water ipod or something.  goodness.

3.)  in the 100s attempting to go faster each 25. Creating varying levels.  I seem to have 2 speeds ....easy and all out.  but i'm working on it.  Other than that I feel great! image  Won't be able to make Texas Camp due to work.  Sent email to that regards.  Since I did IMTX last year I feel like I have a good foundation of what to expect but I hate that i'll miss the mojo, concentrated work effort, and fellowship that is such a huge benefit and boost of a camp! Hopefully another time!

Anyway...that's about it.  This week is actually testing week so I'm anxious to see how that goes!! Next week upload IMTX plan! Whoohoo!

Have a great start to February! image oh, and don't forget to get your king cake on this week!! image

    All the best,

    Stephanie

  • ok I fixed one of my problems this morning. I was just being unfocused. Not bored. I tend to worry about all the things in the day I have to get done. With swimming it really is a focus thing and allowing myself the time to just be and just swim. This morning, every lap I worked with purpose and used counting strokes & breathing as a way to maintain focus (like you've said oh a hundred times to folks). Not a boring second.

    I fixed another issue.....the 100 progression.
    25 - 5 strokes & breathe alternating sides
25- 4 strokes & breathe on one side slightly faster turnover
25-3 strokes & breathe alternating sides with slightly faster turnover & harder pull
last 25-1 stroke/breathe on right turnover at a sprint and finish w/a bad-ass pull.

Amazing what you can do when you verbalize to your coach how mentally lazy you've been!! I figured it out. Ha!

Thanks for listening. Sorry I'm such a goofball. image
  • BOOM! Somebody is on a roll down there....who the hell needs a camp when you are killing it. When I can I come swim with you at YOUR CAMP? Please keep me posted on how you are progressing...
