Sheri Devore looking ahead?? :P

Hi Coach Rich

Finishing up OS this week with testing & looking to the next 2 weeks of swimming camp.  After that I load up the full plan & will it start me where I need to be as far as my race is concerned?  I don't need to adjust it right?  I'm a bit concerned that I'm getting close to IMTX & am not starting volume or any significant ride time till mid feb : x  Makes me nervous.  My bike is my weakness.

Any words of comfort??

thanks sheri d.

    Hey Sheri,

FYI, every single EN Ironman athlete enters the Ironman training plan in the same wk8 or wk9 where you're entering. You'll be just fine! If you feel confident in your swim and/or have been doing the optional swims that began in wk11 of the OS, you could skip the Swim Camp plan and load up the EN*Full plan instead, to end on IMTX. That would give you a couple extra weeks.

That said, it would be a VERY good idea to completely stand down for 2-3 day, to reset yourself at the end of the OS. That is, blow off the schedule workouts for next Mon-Wed, then pick up the schedule on Thurs. You'll be glad later you took this little break. Good luck!

  • sounds like a good plan.  I'm confident my swim will be where it needs to be at race time.  I like the idea of jumping into the Full plan now.

One last question: The weekend I am scheduled for a BIG workout (race test) in April-- I need to move.  Should I move it closer to the race or away?  Back or forward?

    Thanks so much!!

The timing of the first Race Rehearsal isn't super important so move that forward or back as you need to. However, the 2nd RR needs to be done per the schedule, in wk18. Good luck!
