Running Group

Hi Rick, I run with a small group Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. We typically do about 6, 8, and 4 miles on those days respectively at 5:30 AM. This has been great over the past many years at getting me up when I want to do anything but. Can I move the workouts around to get the runs in on those days or do they just need to be extra miles? This morning I ran the six and then did the swim workout for Tuesday. I was thinking I could shift everything by one day and it lines up well. I don't want to throw too much off.

In addition, where it is not a brick workout, is it okay to run and swim at different times during the day when logistically easier? I get biking and running right after as you have noted these are brick workouts, but is completing the second workout later in the day alright? Thanks!

Yes, that's fine in the short term. However, realize that the closer you get to your races, the intensity and volume of the plans start to go up and there are good reason why X is day Y, etc. So you may find yourself needing to make changes, to include no longer running with this group. Most of my training in the ~8wks before an IM is solo, as I need to do when I need to do when I need to do it vs on the schedule of a group or other people.

Logistics trumps all so that's a good change to make
