  • Thanks all for the well-wishes. Again, Joanne and I are both in a good place, zero drama, etc. She came over today to pick up a few things, check out the new van, etc. We're still good friends.

Oh...I picked up the van yesterday . Tons of details to make it a great fit for me, but currently working through all of the configurations I want to set it up for, looking at bike rack options, etc. Look for pics from me over time as I set it up for:

    • Camping, with bicycles
    • Camping, with moto(s)
    • Moto hauling
    • Bike camp support
    • Beach camping

It's fookin' sharp though. I'm 95% sure I'll make IMLP into a road trip, I just know I'll really miss having my road trip pardner riding shot gun with me.

  • That new ETAP would fix that P3 :-)

Van sounds awesome ... looking for pics... just read some comps of the FORD transit vs. Mercedes Sprinter and the FORD rated better in more categories....

NH is 4 hrs past IMLP.... Nice lake house.... Doors open if ya wanna extend that road trip!
  •

Bed/platform in it's highest position so can fit moto under it. Working on lower position, with no moto, to put the platform height at bottom of window. LOTS of small details to make this into a Transformer Van, configurable for different uses. Over time I'll post video walkthrus of the details and setups.

  • Hey Coach,
Thinking of you and wishing you all of the best.
  • +1 @ tim - the ETAP system upgrade would get that P3 off the wall real quick! (just not shipping yet)!
  • Life is far too short to spend any of it unhappy if you can do something about it. All the very best to you moving forward, Coach! Thank you for sharing that with us.
  • Update: I picked up a used '13 P3 frameset off ST and have ordered a Di2 group from Wheelbuilder. Will move my bars, wheels, saddle and pedals over from my old bike to this one.

Yep...Joanne and I basically came to a mutual realization that while we weren't unhappy, we weren't really happy either. More like roomates than a married couple, so we agreed to go our separate ways.

  • Rich, you've got a lot going for you, always have. And such a positive outlook on life (including this crazy venture called EN). Take advantage!
  • Kudos to you for putting this out there and sharing with us. More proof that EN is as much a family as a team/ club. Looks like you are well on your way to building the life you want which is huge!

when you figure out what you want in a bike... perhaps we can try to see how many team members might be interested in a group purchase?? Interesting possibilities with the many direct to consumer models coming online (Dimond, etc (article in Lava this month)) and the number of people that might come in from the team....
  • thanks and all the best.

regarding dogs:::  i still have a huge hole from when my two greyhounds died years ago.        think about getting replacements at times.     but life is so such simpler without dogs ::: easier to travel, etc.      i am not a cat person but do now have cats ::: can get away for night or two without sitter, etc.            consider a cat !         they are a lot lower maintenance.         probably could find one that would enjoy motorcycle travel.

  • I bought a used '13 P3 frameset off ST, will be building it up with Di2 and moving my stuff over from the old bike.

No cats for me, I'm a dog person, sorry
  • Hey Coach,

Just saw this too so also a little late...thanks for sharing and all the best in your new adventures!  Can't wait to see the van when you arrive in tempe in November.
