Roadmap question

I submitted a new roadmap in December but have not heard back. Hamstring injury is not getting any better... Frustrating. Seeing PT 2* a week for several weeks. Can not run. When is it too late? What if it doesn't get better? Any guidance at all would be appreciated.

    Hey Steph,

Sorry, I found your TSR back here in my queue...ugg, sorry, not sure what happened.

You're racing IMLP as am I, and I'm rehabbing a broken leg. In the end it's about setting realistic expectations for your race. 12wks out from IMLP is early May. If you can be running by early May, then you have time to build up "a" run. Likewise, if you can't do that, you can still train with it, though not running, and your swim and bike fitness will carry you through IMLP. But in the end it's about (1) wrapping your head and goals around the reality of your running fitness and (1) asking yourself if it's worth it to you to have "that" sort of day at IMLP.

I did a 10:36 at Kona in '03 after having not run a step for about 10wks, having twisted the crap out of my ankle on a training run. My first run in 10wks was an out and back in the Energy Lab during race week. I had excellent swim and bike fitness and then I just shuffled to a decent, for me, finish. My point is that is you can adjust your expectations to fit within the box that your injury has given you, and you're also fine with that performance, then, yes, you can still do IMLP.

    I hope this helps!
