Rich's Jan OS Micro

The last three weeks of work, family, travel, etc... has forced me prioritize some things and unfortunately, my OS plan took a backseat and I have missed about 1/2 the workouts. I've done my best to get in the critical workouts and longer workouts. I feel like I've been able to keep my run fitness, but I feel like my bike fitness has already taken a hit. Next week is a testing week, so I am planning on just accepting what I think will be a decrease in FTP and continuing on with the OS plan.

Does it make sense to keep following the OS plan as is? Or should replace the weeks that follow the testing weeks with the workouts from the weeks that I have 1/2 a$$'ed (i.e. replace week 9 with week 5, etc...). I'm confident that I can do the normally scheduled workouts, but I just didn't know if it is better to redo what I have missed or if I should just continue on.

  • Rich, I think you should just "reset" the OS plan such that this week starts with the first week you missed. You can do this by futzing with the end date via the "move change" element of the plan...sounds like it would be week 5 now. This means you won't complete the full OS when you close out your plan, but I am okay with that...I'd rather have a manageable workload now that you can build on vs just leaping to get back on that schedule and perhaps raising the bar a bit too high. Let me know what you think...
  • I totally agree. Thanks for the guidance Coach P!
