  • Stupid family reunion hastily scheduled for the weekend of this race. There are a LOT of Dallas peeps heading to Galveston, guess I won't be one of them this go-around. :-(
  • Greetings athletes, I know I am not the only one to represent at this race. I need some info. I live in Houston but have only been to Galveston 2 or 3 times and never to Moody Gardens. Anyone have the inside info. on parking, where to do lunch after the kids fun run and before bike check on Saturday? See you guys soon.
  • Dana, where are you guys staying? Other than Moody?

I think Millers Seawall Grill is about the best food in town. And great view if you get a table by the windows. The burgers are the best you'll have on the island and the seafood, both fried and grilled is wonderful.
  • Vic, we are not staying in Galveston. The whole fam damily will go down on Saturday to check in and my two girls are going to run the kids run. Then we check bikes and drive back to H-town. O'dark early the next morning we drive back down to do the half and return home with yet another hectic weekend under our belts.
  • Then definitely make your way down to Millers on Saturday after the kids race.

As far as parking, I could do a screenshot and mark all the parking for you but it's really not necessary. If you get there REALLY early, you can park in the convention center parking past and to the rear of the hotel. When that fills up, they will park you in the Schlitterbahn parking by the hotel. Then the will park you in the large Schlitterbahn lots, south of the hotel a couple blocks. Parking is clearly marked and there will be people directing traffic. Even the farthest lot is only a short walk to transition. As with anything, the earlier you're there, the closer you'll be able to park.
