Triumphant victory after bone marrow transplant now to conquer a Classic Whipple surgery before IMCh
Hi teammates!
As some of you know my husband Mike had a bonemarrow transplant for Aplastic Anemia on June 10 2015 before my September 25 2015 IMChoo. I missed the 13.1 run mile cutoff and couldn't finish IM.. So I'm excited to go back to IMCHOO on September 25, 2016 and finish what I started. Mike continues to recover from the transplant and was doing well. He started back to working out and is up to 6 days a week.
Unfortunately the Dr.found a tumor in the distal end of the bile duct in the head of the pancreas. All of the pathology reports came back inconclusive. Fortunately they are able to do the classic whipple surgery (March 29th) . Once the organs and tumor is removed and pathology concludes their testing the Dr. can advise the next step. We will get through this together!!
I'm not looking for medical advice but was wondering if you know anyone who had a classic whipple surgery and what their outcome was in relationship to working out after the procedure . Quality of life and return to some normalcy. We understand from the Dr. that in time he will be able to start working out again after recovery. It's always comforting to hear about another patient recovery. Do you know anyone who has recovered and returned to working out?
Thanks so much and see some of you at IMCHOO in 2016.

Hi Brenda,
Wow! You are always so helpful, this is perfect! Sindy is so courageous, determined and what an inspiration. I know Mike will be encouraged after reading about her journey. Thank you very much! Mike is scheduled for surgery on March 29th.
