  • Thank You for updating us Rich.

Out thoughts are with Patrick and Trent.
  • thanks - healing thoughts to Coach P and Trent.  And kudos to Kit (and the rest of the team) for your quick thinking and group effort!  Be safe out there!

  • Thanks for the update, Rich.

  • Thanks all. Team is gearing up to roll in 20', gonna b a great day joined by Tom and carrie, steve cramer.
  • Thanks for the update, scary. Lots of crashes this season.

    Get well boys!

  • Thanks for the updates, blows, way too much crashing lately.

  • Wow! I just got on here today, and learn what happened. Thanks for letting us know! Healing vibes going out to Patrick and Trent! Fanstastic response by Team EN! Kitima, et. al! Everyone be very, very careful, please!!!
  • That really sucks. Hope everyone heals quickly.
  • A quick update from the hospital last night...

Patrick was in good spirits, though understandably spent from the ordeal. The on call doctor gave him pretty much only good news - while things are broken, they were broken in "good" places, and without a lot of soft tissue damage. So no surgery. A long, painful recovery (on the order of 3 months) - but no long term bads. As for pain, it's not too bad. Kitima had given him some over the counter stuff earlier, but when the doc offered something more potent he declined. As long as he wasn't moving things weren't bad.

Carrie, Tom and Madison drove down to San Jose to visit, and it was great to have Carrie there since she speaks fluent Medical image. Madison wanted to know what color P's kids hair was - too cute!

An update from Rich's podcast - I think the plan is for P to not fly home just yet. The doctor kept saying "then you can go home", "when you get home".... After a bit, P said "Uh, home for me is Boston." The doc looked at him funny for a second, and then recovered with something diplomatic like "I don't think so." The Nor Cal cell is currently working on sorting out accommodations until he's back on his feet.

But the show must go on, and finally California looks like it'll be putting up some nice weather for the campers today.

Oh, and in case you are one of the remaining .001% of idiots who think wearing a helmet is dorky...I saw the helmet, and I'm pretty damn glad P had it on. While the outer shell is only scratched, the inner foam broke in three or more places - and P had a pretty good welt on his temple. Without the helmet I'm confident his situation would be substantively different today.

  • Thanks for the update Mike, I wonder if we could put together a van ride from Cali for him, thats if that is even possible for him. Anything we can possibly do please let us know.

    Thanks

  • Thanks for the updates Rich and Mike.  3 month recovery is long but at least there's no long term bad stuff.

    Gordon

  • thanks for the updates.

x2 on the helmet... when I crashed last year I'm pretty sure that kept everything in my head that belongs there.

so glad to read no soft tissue damage!  that makes for a much longer recovery... I sprained my ACJ last Aug, I wasn't able to do much for at least 6 months and it still bugs me - not to make light, but I wish I'd broken something!

  •  Hoping for a safe and speedy recovery.....

  • Patrick, Trent,

Glad to hear you guys are safe.  My thoughts are with you and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks to everyone giving us the quick update.

  • Mike, Rich thanks for the latest news. Glad to hear coachP and Trent are doing ok and the team was able to help during a tough time.

Please pass along prayers and wishes for a good recovery.

  • I don't understand...you say "dorky" like it's a bad thing.

I'm glad P and Trent will be OK.

  • sounds like everybody pulled together to get the injured taken care of!  thanks for the update and news as yes we were worried.

  • Incredible story of team work. Another great demonstration of how undeniably awesome this group is. From Kitima to Joanne to Mike to Team Chavez...Wow!

Thanks for update on the condition of both guys. So good to know that Patrick wasn't feeling a ton of pain at the time. I wonder if the intensity of pain will increase over the next day or so??? Ooooh. I really hope not.

I'll be sending positive thoughts and strength!
  • Great job team !!! I'm so glad you we're there Kitima to be able to help. You are awesome ! Great job ! I'm glad Coach P will be ok and I hope the rest of the team at ToC has an awesome time. Be careful out there !!

  • I am starting to be a little suspicious of this whole thing. Let me run down what we know.

    1) P crashed while riding back by himself

    2) Rich has him loaded in one van and transferred to another van.

    3) Trent "crashed as well" but is out riding the next day no problem

    4)  P says he won't be on the forums for a while

    5) Rich's motto, "pics or it did not happen" has anyone see pics?

I think there is a plot on here, Is P being reprogrammed? Comes back to Boston with a shaved head and need to kick people in there nether regions?

NE Sleeper cell we need an investigation, I think the West coast peeps are up to something.

  • Mr Ford,

You crack me up. Nuff said.

I saw P last night. Brought him the requested "snacks" including specifically jelly beans. And some action, sci-fi movies.

He will be coming to Camp Chavez at discharge. Not sure if today or tomorrow. Once well enough to fly we will get him on a plane to Boston.
The EN Nor Cal crew near me(Tom, Simon, Cramer, John) will be around to assist me as Steve is going away for the weekend starting today. He is going to a bachelor party where the guys are going in a motor home to follow the last 4 days of the ToC. Too cool. But Madison and I are up for the job. We can take care of P.

I did not take a pic of P in his hospital bed cause that is just "wrong". He is an amazing guy, just dealing with this, staying positive and keeping things in perspective.

Will post a pic soon if he says it's cool.

  • Carrie,

Spending time on your front porch should speed recovery!

  • Steve- you are hysterical. OK- Carrie- your job is to get pics of Coach P at the hospital. I'll nab a pic of Trents road rash if he'll drop his pants for me :-)

Trent rode yesterday and did OK- he said the descents hurt his shoulder (and BTW- the road surface was a bit rough and they hurt mine too!!!!) but otherwise he did OK. TOC Day 5 starts in a few hours and I think I'd rather be in the hospital bed next to P! Oh my aching as$$!!!!
  • Once Patrick finds out there is a Jelly Belly manufacturing plant with free tours and "tastings" just 45 minutes from Carries house he will never go home.

  •  OK Steve- you wanted pics.  Here's Trent's road rash (not pretty!)

  • Sweet, Battle Wounds.

Glad you guys are having a good time.

  • It takes more than a little road rash to take down Drillbit!

It takes more than a little road rash to take down Drillbit!

You ain't kidding.....he separated a shoulder and road 100 miles with 7,000 ft of climbing the next day!!!!

    A MACHINE!

  • Steve, slight correction on point 3 above... Trent rides but not with no problem, more like pain and hanging on to Halligan for dear life. Also Nemo has special powers as she is only the 2nd woman Ive dropped my paints for

Update to all is I am feeling better and if not for our crew and the epic riding I would noy have made it.
  • Trent, Just glad your okay. But man after crashing like that and still riding, thats epic.
