Hello Coach, loaded the EN Half plan as per my TSR. What are your recommendations as far as altering the HIM plan to accommodate my April 30 Marathon? Really enjoying all that EN has to offer. Thanks.

  • Gretchen, thanks for checking in! I assume you are on a pretty solid marathon plan right now, so we are essentially marrying the EN plan with the long run parts of the marathon plan you are on...specifically:

    Mon - Swim only or OFF day, depending how you feel.
    Tues - Regular FTP run here + Swim
    Wed - FTP Bike only, you can extend it a bit if possible with no run.
    Thu - **NEW** a moderate long run here...probably in the 8-12 mile range...this will complement the long run on the weekend, so it should have a bit of tempo in it (Half Marathon Pace). I'd ball park it at minimum 8 miles up to 65% of your long run distance. So if you are runnning 18, then this would be 12-ish.
    Fri - Swim only
    Sat - Regular long ride/run from Sat
    Sun - Long Run Day per your marathon plan
