2012 Dura Ace Di2 Parts?

My understanding is Shimano no longer supports the original Di2 groupsets?

I am in need for a rear derailleur replacement for my 2012 FELT DA2 with Dura Ace Di2.

How do I go about finding one?

  • Tim, my oldest son is a bike mechanic, who you may have met at IMMT in 2014, and he works with a friend of mine who used to be a mechanic for USAT teams traveling to international races.  Maybe they can help.

  • @JW... yeah I found one bid up to $350... there is no way in hell I will pay that.... I should rephrase that... I'd be happy to pay that if I knew nothing else would go but since the whole system is no longer supported its crazy to replace one part.... You can go Ui2 for a little over $1000.... You can Etap it for $1600.... Problem is I dont wanna dump a lot of money into the bike .... I want a new bike with Etap.... So I will more than likely go mechanical for around $300 including labor to keep the bike running until I buy my next machine with etap :-)..... Will know more on Monday when another mechanic checks it out....
  • Tim, sorry for the problem you've encountered.  I checked with my son and the other bike mechanic in their shop.  They checked with Shimano and learned they do not have any back stock and neither of them has one either. They doubt they will find one.  I'll ask them to keep their eyes out for one, but they do not sound hopeful.

  • I am probably going to convert my old tri bike to 1 x 11.

    front 52.         back 11-42.

the 52 to 42 is same ratio as 34 to 28.

new parts on ebay:::    sram aero shifters.  $93.      Rival 1 long cage derailleur.    $93.       Sunrace 11 speed cassette.   11-42.   $63.

  • My options.

go with used RD off ebay- prices I have seen between 200-400... downside is still no support for that part or any of the existing parts... so possibly the cheapest solution if I can find a good RD... but the least reliable

go minimal and mechanical Ultegra ... probably under $400 including labor... 2nd cheapest and quickest solution but I rode Heathers mechanical bike today and just cant go back...

go ETAP for $1600 , plus labor, plus some hidden extra's like, brake levers, converting my wheels to 11spd, new cogs for said wheels, new chain, not too mention the timeframe to get ETAP could be extreme since its in high demand... Also being first GEN maybe I should learn my lesson and wait till they work out possible bugs... Total would be $1800-$1900.... by far most expensive and unknown time frame... although the one I WANT the most....

my choice - Ui2 conversion....I found a local LBS who is getting in a new Ui2 bike only to be converted to ETAP.... $1100 parts and labor which include everything , although I will still need to convert wheels and and new 11spd cogs... Total should be around $1300 and will be all new.... Who knows judging by the prices of used 1st Gen Di2 I can probably get $500-600 for the remainder of my existing system ?
