  • This is my 2nd year doing Raleigh. Last year I lost my rear gears at about mile 35! hope I've figured out how to stop that!. I'm at the early years of 70-74 . If I train well I should be near the front. Staying downtown this year. Near the run start; hopefully that will make logistics easier. Only coming from the Outer Banks so travel will not be an issue. Will see you all there and hopefully have a meal together to get to know you like last year. Go EN!
  • First time on the Raleigh course and looking forward to it. After a hard season with some injuries last year I'm climbing back for Ironman Wisconsin this fall - - Raleigh is a perfect time and location to check; plus it's a town I always liked! I'm racing in the 55 year group, and the lead-up focus is on improving the run. Looking forward to seeing the other EN peeps racing
  • Hey Team,

I'll be in Raleigh this year. First time racing there. Just finishing the OS, so really haven't focused on this race yet. Maybe next week.  Staying downtown, right at the finish. Easy drive from Charlotte. My focus this year is on bike watts and run durability, so I'm looking forward to gauging progress at this race. The course is tough, and the weather can be quite hot, but I still want to go under 5 and challenge the top10 in my AG. We'll see . . .

    Train smart and safely.
  • Hey Team, I'll be racing Raleigh this yea. It will be my first time on the course. I'm doing three 70.3's this year and Raleigh is my AAA race. I'm in the 35-39 group. I too would like to go sub 5 but not sure if I have that level yet. First test comes in 9 days at New Orleans
  • Is there a team lunch planned?
  • Hi Guys! Late to introducing myself!! First time in Raleigh doing this race. We live in Greensboro NC area (moved last Sept here) so the family and I are just doing the 1-1.5 drive in race day. I have dealt with several injuries this season so far but finally recovered BUT taking things very slow as I have Chattanooga IM in Sept so I have changed my whole strategy. Slow and steady is what I am doing. So this race is not about PRing or speed for me. It is all about following my race plan, smart racing and coming in feeling strong. Slow will be ok for me...

  • @Kim, welcome to the party.  It's fine driving in race morning from the Greensboro area (prob 90 min), but you have to be checked into the race by 4pm, and have your bike racked at the lake by 5pm, the day before on Saturday.  I'm sure you know that, but there are always folks who show up race day expecting to be able to check in, only to face bitter disappointment.

@Chris, I'm game for a team lunch on Saturday.  I plan on taking my bike out to the lake and then driving parts of the course back to Raleigh, all before noon.  I'm sure there are lots of choices near the convention center; perhaps someone with knowledge can point us in the right direction.  I'll likely be solo because my two race/travel mates bailed, one opting for the allure of an open-bar wedding, the other choosing to serve chicken sandwiches to kids at an amusement park.

  • I haven't heard anything about an EN Team lunch on Friday or Saturday. But I'm not the greatest moving thru EN online. Brenda, Chris, Team members anyone hear about a lunch?
  • Hi Team, we no longer have race captains for races, therefore there are no longer organized lunches or dinners for any races except key races. I will be firing up the group me on Wednesday, so please feel free to chat amongst yourselves to organize something and if you do, please do not remember to take a prerace pic either at the venue or race morning.
  • This is my 3rd season doing triathlons, my first HIM and first race training with EN.  Staying downtown and looking forward to a great day competing.  I am in the 50-54 AG.  I am open for lunch if anyone wants to organize it.  Looking forward to meeting you.  Good luck racing!!

  • I will also try and drop off my bike early. I'd also like to do a team lunch. I'll have +3. I don't know the area so someone else will have to give us recommendations. I'll bring an EN flag.
