Todd's Micro adjustments
Patrick, hopefully this email finds you in a house with no active renovations. I have both a micro adjust question as well as a bit of a long term question. I am all in for IMMOO one more time this year. This time, I am actually training. Made trough Nov OS, I was to end the GF plan this week but transitioned over to the Half plan a week early as I am searching for a half to do early summer before jumping into the FUll plan. I am sitting comfortably at a T-pace of 1:27-28, FTP (on a trainer) -275 , 3.7 W/Kg, and run vdot ( outside) of 55. I could have tested this week to end the GF plan, but the half plan has me testing two weeks in. So the micro question is how necessary is it for me to test all three disciplines during that week. In listening to the season end wrap up podcasts most of the pointy end people seemed to forgo testing and looked more at their historical data. Thoughts? And long term, any brief thoughts on where to focus my energy during the next training block. I am not sure I can raise my Vdot much higher then 57 without hurting the other disciples. My bike however always seem to be my crutch. I like the look of the half plan make up so I will keep at as best I can. I am sure this too lengthy, but I appreciate any input. Stay Healthy - Todd

Good call on the plan switch...and on the actually training this time (I remember that last race!)...and you are right on testing. I personally haven't tested in a long, long time as I know my numbers by heart. And by watt.
I think that you don't really need to test them...your numbers are good where they are at (Esp the run)...and honestly the key to a great run close to your target paces will be the nutrition work...so don't slack on that.
As for the additional focus, I really like the bike. A lot. There's just so much to gain there...and so little you need to do on the run to really get stronger.
The half plan is a great place to have really solid Sat + Sun rides. You can do a ton of damage there when the ride time is sub 3 hours. So I'd look for you to really push your limits on the bike on Sat...then do your best to hold on for Sunday...esp the last hour on Sundays. Pick harder courses for Sat...you can always go flat or TT on Sunday (aka steady) even on tired legs.
Part of that bike improvement, IOW, is a psychological battle to fear nothing you can cover on two wheels.
Once we move to the Full Plan, it's hard to do "extra" given the rest of the load you are carrying...let me know what you think. Happy to compare a few Strava routes for you if you have them linked up, etc.
