2016 "Post JOS" updates - Keep 'em coming!

Hi JOS peeps! I know I could not continue to be motivated if I didn't see the progress you all are continuing to make after the Outseason just ended! So PLEASE keep on posting your training, races, or anything else you would like to share! Bike, Run, Core, Pushups, Weight loss (or gain!), anything to keep us connected through the season.

Turby and I just loaded up the HIM plans for Eagleman 70.3 in June. Time to get some long bike rides in!! Hopefully OUTSIDE...
What are you all planning?? LET US KNOW!

  • Carol - GREAT post
    think we lost everyone :-(
I capped off my season with an epic MTB race in Austin TX last Saturday. RR to be posted shortly...
Came back and clearly caught a bug as I have been feeling it for a few days.. hoping to pick it up again shortly..
will be PMing you to try and connect for a ride with you & the T man this spring/summer
  • Where is everyone??? LOL
Just did my first "long" ride for the HIM plan. Wow. Hand hurts, foot is numb, neck hurts.... What the heck?
I expected as much:-) I'm sure I'll get used to it.
    How's everyone's week going?
  • I'm just here hanging out. I'm traveling a lot and moving this summer- thinking about a three month break. In other news- got the uniform I've been trying to get for a year and a half- it's awesome!
  • I am hanging out in short course for a month getting ready to do tempe international Olympic May 22. The city drained tempe town lake to do a permanent fix in the dam that creates it. They promise the fix will be done and lake full by then! Our April lifetime fitness Olympic and all of our spring splash and dashes cancelled.

My program is not much different than OS!
Tues-2x15' at 1.0, thurs 5x1.5@ 1.2(couldn't find a TR program with 7x1'), today 2x20' @1.0 coming up as soon as I post! Followed by 30' LSP BRIC
Flip flopped the weekend and did the speed run wko Saturday due to time constraint -3x3'@ z5 and 3x.75@z4.
Still hitting all the goals so feeling strong!

I've graduated in the pool from my 3 months of TI drills only. Now I am working with the tempo trainer and doing descend drills trying to keep stroke count consistent. I have a TI swim lesson 5/18 so will find out how to proceed next. Time is closin in on my goal of magically having a 1:15 IM swim in November image

Glad to have this forum to post in-feels lonely without it!!

Congrats to Scott on he recent race!

Carol and Turby-good luck training for HIM! I live in a climate where I could be riding outside but still am not! I get studying done for a certification course (webinars) while on the trainer
  • I can't stand an empty spreadsheet- so I went in and filled up my run and core sheets- Lost 5 pounds and ran 409 miles.  Only three people (all guys!) ran further.  That's kind of cool.  I'm getting tired of running, so I'll get to 120 days next sunday and then decide if the streak will continue.  Will do a one mile yard run at 0415 before I leave for another trip...
  • Just returned from a two week family vacation in FL. Was planning on a run and swim focused trip, until foot issues sidelined my run volume. Packed up my trainer, bike gear and rented a bike for 11 of the 14 days. Bike shop upgraded me to a Specialized Tarmac with Di2 shifting, disc brakes on carbon wheels. NICE.

Managed 235 miles over 8 days of cycling. Definitely the longest, flat rides I've had.
    Running - 17 miles
Swimming - 3 short open water swims of 1,100 yds each

  • Well back from Beantown 4th trip in 8 yrs to the big marathon show. Awesome weekend with Brenda and fellow EN family the Swanson's. Raceday for me was picture perfect from the weather to how smooth things went logistically, nutrition, pot a pottie's etc. Had an awesome run right outta the gate. Seen and stopped to hang and take a pic with Laura Becker at mi 10. Heard coach P at mi 14 scream my name over my ipod. Made my way back and said hello, smile, and let's take a pic. Off we go next stop Brenda and gang at mi 16 the Newton hills. Lo and behold there they were so more hugs, hand shakin, pics, and then off I go ready to tackle the hills. Coming up to mid heart break and dang more friends hello's and TY's then off I go again. At mi 22 I knew my 3:30 was truly gone but man I had a great time on the course. Boston official time 3:34:25, my trusty garmin had me at 3:29:25 but the experience this year was priceless. Next up post run rehab and rest, then time to drop into IM plan and ready for IMLP 2016. it will be an interesting spring, good luck peeps !

How much did you eat at WDW to make up for the WKO???

SOLID WKOs on a family vacation!

  • @Scott - Too much. I haven't jumped on the scale yet, but I'm sure my weight has gone north a few pounds. Hopefully only that much.

Foot Dr. thinks things are healing, even though I experience some pain last week. He has me at half mileage for another two weeks and then I can slowly ramp it up.
