Swim RR pace

Can somebody explain what is the swim RR pace. I have some swim intervals in the plan where intensity is labeled as RR pace minus 2-3 sec. What would that be. I am suspecting that it is swim pace 2-3 sec faster per 100m from what I would swim 1900m split during HIM race. It is not all out 1900m pace per 100m minus 2-3 sec. Am I correct? How is that related to1000m TT or T-pace? Slower or faster.

Thanks

  • I have the same understanding as you do. RR pace minus 2-3 seconds would be 2-3 seconds per hundred faster than you would swim the 1900M during the RR (or your race).

T-pace is the pace per 100 from your 1000m TT.

Personally, I find that my 1000m TT and 1900m race are actually about the same since I get the added benefit of a wetsuit during the race. Otherwise I would guess my 1900m pace would be maybe 1-2 seonds slower the my 1000 TT.

  • Thank you. That is what I thought. I am just trading wall push offs through flip turns and tight streamline to equal wetsuit on the race day. I agree on 1900m race pace vs. 1000TT. Just wondering why not using T-pace as a reference instead of RR minus 2-3sec. It should be pretty close as you said it. I am new here and a learning curve is steep.
    Thanks again for clarifying it.
