Denver Peeps - Help Needed!
Denver area EN-ers! I'm writing on behalf of my fabulous uncle. He's been caring for my aunt for several years but she's recently been moved into a nursing home. Uncle Steve is on his own for the first time in 40 years.
We recently had a very sweet conversation about how to make friends when you're on your own. He bought a road bike and a trainer a year or so back and really enjoys cycling (I think the trainer allowed him the only way to get some exercise since he couldn't really leave my aunt alone in the house).
Anyway, since I've met so many great friends through athletic clubs and groups, I suggested he look up some local cycling clubs. Steve is in his early 60s and lives in Englewood and I think he's a casual cyclist. He has the clipless pedals and everything but I don't know if he's ready for the LBS hammer fest.
So, can any of you recommend any really friendly, welcoming, casual rides he could join and possible meet other peers? Thanks so much for any recommendations I could pass along!

Suzanne, I am south of Denver in Colorado Springs so I am sure that others will have better suggestions for the Denver area but...I am a member of Team Evergreen out of Evergreen CO and they run a pretty heavy load of weekly rides in the area (about 20 minutes west of Denver) with many of them being social in nature. Their website is www.teamevergreen.org and there is no requirement to be a member of the club to join the rides, sign the waiver and you're on your way! I am sure there are several others I am just familiar with them and a member because they host the Triple Bypass each July. If nothing else comes up that would be a great starting point and I am sure that 2 rides into it he will have invitations to rides every day of the week in the area.

Bicycle Village supposedly has a group ride that leaves every Saturday at 9:30 am from each of their store locations for a 20-30 mile no-drop ride. The website indicates they have riders of all abilities. There are locations in Aurora and Littleton.
