Kiwanis Kingston (NY) Classic
This was my first distance race in about 2 1/2 years. After a DNF at IMLP and meniscus surgery, I decided that it was time to start back. Coupling a race with a family visit (keeps my wife happy ) we went to the Adirondacks.
The half and full length marathons begin together. They make a loop through the historic area of Kingston (original capital of NY) and then makes its way out of town and on to a well packed rail trail from maybe mile 3 to 6.5 to the half turn around. Retrace about a mile to the paved surface. Then it is rolling hills back to town and the finish line.
It was a nice challenge. I was looking for 2 hours even, so I was close. Since it has been so long since I ran anything of this distance, I found myself holding back. I was using my GPS to pace. If I would have trusted my instincts and run my race, I believe that I would have had a 1:45 day. But, I was thrilled to finish and not have any knee pain.
Used mostly Gatorade throughout. Wished I would have had some Sport Beans but that was only with about a mile to go. Felt strong.

Nice work completing, playing it smart and coming in with a respectable time bro!
What are your 2016 key races?
Just one... Chattanooga in September. This will either be the 3rd Strike in IM competition or the 3rd time being the charm. DNF'd at Louisville and Lake Placid. Working it hard to get a finish under my belt.
How about you?
