Raleigh - Week 16

The bumb in swim volume for me has been trying.  I came off of the Jan OS where I was swiming 1-2 times per month .

This morning's 80' bike ride suffered from extra swim fatiuge as well as a poor breakfast choice.  I tried somthing new and my stomach seemed desperate for me to get a secon chance to taste it!   As a result I wasn't able to finish the last 20' FTP interval.  Oh well.  Just going to keep on keeping on.

How are you doing on your road to Raleigh? No lurkers

  • Hey Chris,

Man, Week 16 kinda snuck up on me.  I was basically all cycling last week, at the BRC.  Hacking this week a bit too, due to travel, but it's mostly a swim (looking for 12k yards) and run (35 mi), with a solid ride this Saturday. Got back on my tri bike yesterday, after a winter off of it, and it felt fine.

The swim waves have been posted and, unlike the 28th wave I usually get stuck in, I'm in Wave 4 behind young/fast guys, so we may get to do some real swimming this year.  Hoping to get 12-18k per week for the next 4 weeks to get ready for that.  I'm avoiding the buoy/Lava Pants because there's a good chance it'll be no-wetsuit.  Next week is a big run week (40), Week 18 a big bike week, then it's taper/race time.

Looking forward to putting on the first ankle strap of the year.

    MR

  • That's some epic swim volume. Nice work. I managed to get some open water swimming in this past weekend. Had a great time and swam fast (for me).

I'm starting to feel discomfort from the z5 Tuesdays. I'm going to back off of the z5 work for now. I think I have some scar tissue left over from a stress fracture. z3 running doesn't seem to bother it at all and z4 barely anoys it. z5 kicks its a$$ though.
