Patrick,

Next week I'll be in week 11 of the EN Full Intermediate plan, and I need to make some adjustments due to travel. I'll be gone Wednesday afternoon through Friday. I may be able to fit in a short run and/or swim during the trip (I'll have access to a lap pool) but it depends on how the schedule shakes out.

I'm thinking about moving the long run up to Wednesday -- does that make sense? If I do that, should I move the bike somewhere earlier in the week or drop it? Any other adjustments you would make?

Thanks,

Mike

Tuesday is FTP bike + Brick Run
    Wednesday is Long Run
    Thursday is OFF
    Friday AM is FTP run
Saturday + Sunday is normal training.

That early Day Off (don't kill me) is what sets up your weekend. Do yourself a favor and make sure all your weekend stuff is set up (tires, food, etc) so you can easily get back and get to work!

  • Coach P,

I'm looking for advice on adjusting Camp Week following a HIM. My situation:

    • I'm racing Victoria 70.3 this Sunday, and following the wiki guidance on tapering and recovery after the race
    • Next week is week 15 / Camp Week. I was planning to have RR#1 on the course Saturday, 6 days after the HIM
    • I will be in Whistler, with license to train as much as I want from Saturday-Thursday. So I could push back the RR a few more days
    • If I do the RR on Saturday or Sunday, I can bike the full course. Past that, paving work will cut the course in half

Should I push back the RR? And if so, how should I fill those days? Thanks!

  • Mike, perfect! Remember, the "Adjust IM Plan for Half" protocol isn't about tapering and peaking for your best race. image It's a good chance to see your fitness, test your nutrition, bike set up, etc.

As for the rest of your week, the RR on Sat should be fine. I would plan on:

    Mon - OFF
    Tue - Swim Only
Wed - Easy Bike + Run (total 60')
    Thu - 45' TRP run
    Fri - RR Swim
Sat - 112 bike on Course, short run
Sun - 112 bike on Course, no run
    Mon - Split Run AM/PM
    Tues - Half a Loop
    Wed OFF
Thu - Long Run and back on plan...
