Raleigh - Training Thread
There's not enough activity for a week by week thread. Let's just use one.
I had to cut Tuesday's swim short because my shouldres were SO SORE from the 3.2k Monday swim. I really need to build my swim fitness. I spent Tuesday desperatly trying to use my back and lats and spare my shoulders. I also added a buch of kixk sets as I find that my hip flexors are always sore post swim on race day.
The 3:15 AM start to today's bike was a challenge....that I was up for. Take that alarm clock! +1 for Chris.

Hey Chris,
Work killed my evening swim yesterday, but I'll try to sneak it in this afternoon. My swim fitness is a little lacking as well. I started back up the first week of March, have been doing 5-6k per week, and planned on continuing that pathetic yardage until race day . . . because I'm always in one of the last waves, so the swim will be slow regardless of training time. Then the swim waves were announced, and I'm in the 4th wave! Which means I may actually be able to swim. So I upped the yardage a bit, got 10k the last two weeks, hoping to get 12k this week, maybe 15k next. Still not enough volume to produce anything fast, but hopefully enough to make me somewhat competitive.
Mechanical issue this morning cost me 30 minutes, resulting in a shortened bike. Not worried though. Looking forward to a hilly 9-10-mi run tomorrow morning.
We've had some cooler-than-normal weather lately, which means there's still an outside chance of a wetsuit swim. Of course, it's supposed to move into the 90's late next week.
Bib numbers are out. 140. Which is most likely an AWA number, which hopefully means a sweet spot in the TAs. I really benefited from that at Steelhead. If true in Raleigh, that will likely be the only tangible benefit of AWA status.
Hope everyone has a good remainder of Week 18.
