Race Weight 1st IM CDA ...
Coach ... Need some guidance ... I've been slowly getting back in shape for the past 25 months, lost about 60 lbs and feeling great. I have been working towards IM race since March and joined EN to provide more focus/structure. Seems you are the nutrition guru from all the forums I've read ... I need to drop about 20 more lbs before August 21st and assumed with trading volume I'd shed it rather quickly. However, I seem to be gaining, ugh ... Here's the conundrum ... Any sugar stalls fat burn ... Even fruit, I don't eat any processed sugar and eat rather clean ... And not a lot compared to the past. I just can't get the fat to melt, I have tried everything to get leaner ... My routine lab work is normal ... I looked for a forum to address my situation but didn't see anything.
Any advice? I am willing and disciplined to follow any plan that yields results ... Just haven't found it yet ... Is it possible to really restrict calories to ultra low levels with training? I track using MyFitnessPal ... Any bread, fruit, sweet potato is out. I've read Primal Endurance, tried Paleo, but < 30 g cards each day and heaps of protein are what got me down initially but need more for all the training IMO.
Thanks for any and all guidance. Get me going in the right direction coach.
Marc

Hey Marc,
Congrats on losing the 60lb! I think you've proven with those results that you have a process that works but you may have unrealistic goals around losing another 20lb by late August.
Please read this, a good description of what we advise our athletes to do and what I do. Other than that, patience is the key and a weight loss of a 1lb per week is the best weight loss rate. Anything more than that usually creates a good bit of downstream friction, I've learned, with regards to compromised training, "falling off the wagon," etc.
I'm going to change this title and move it to the Nutrition forum where others will see it and add their input. Good luck!
I look forward to meeting you in a couple of weeks.
Marc
