IMLP Trial

I just enrolled in the trial membership. My A race is 10 weeks out. The first week prescribed seems super light. For example, the workouts I'm currently doing on my own, which is currently normal, are way more volume and intensity than what is provided. Also, there are no swim workouts? Zero. I'm surprised given the timing as related to my communicated A race. No way I'd be taking a week off from the pool 10 weeks out. That doesn't feel/seem right. Just looking for some insight. Thanks. Jeff

Just my thoughts here. A couple of things. It is a "trial" workout and your timing might be a little off.You are  just getting a generic taste of what we do here in the haus.Overall it is just to give you a feel of what you will be doing, newbie to a seasoned athlete. You state you are 10 weeks away from your A race LP. Well you are definitely knee deep into your own program for an IM. Volume/intensity/structure so to me a "trial" is not in your best interest here to get a feel of EN. As for swim programing and structure EN does have it in there programs once your in, and there is a lot. Using me as an example I to am doing LP and in my program swim 3/4 wkly. The Run/Bike volume/intensity  is structured to build you up to "race day". So as a trial membership peep use the site to glean as much info/education as possible there is lots. Carry on with your trg for LP. Have an awesome IM and see you back here in August to image. Then give us a good look of what we are really about ! Good luck in LP !

  • Yeah, what Steve said!
I *think* when you sign up as a trial member, you get a generic training plan assigned, not the actual Endurance Nation IM plan.
I would get in touch with Coach Rich and determine if you want to change to our IM plan or stick with your own.
In the last 12 weeks before an IM, there is PLENTY of swimming in the actual IM plan.
  • Thanks guys. I wasn't expecting the trial to be generic. I was looking for guidance on the last race phase of training but guess that won't work in this situation. I'll follow up with Coach.

    Hey Jeff,

Welcome to your trial membership! You submitted your race schedule to me on 5/15 and I created your Triathlon Season Roadmap for you yesterday. You can view that here. Please read and follow the instructions for loading up the correct training plan, etc, then circle back to me here in this thread if you have any questions.

    Good luck!

  • Hi Rich,

Thank you for setting up the schedule/first week. I am just concerned because the week seems not only light, but there is no swimming. If this is normal for the trial membership, or this info is required in order to establish zones, I get it, but there was no/ is no explanation for such details. Per my race schedule, you'll see I'm 10 weeks out from Lake Placid, and I guess I was just expecting that this workout plan provided would pick up at the 10 week out mark, not seemingly starting from zero.

Let me know if I am missing anything.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

  • Jeff, click on "Training Plan" from the main menu on the home page. On the second line, you'll see "Current Plan: " and then the name of the plan you're currently using. Click the RED button to the right of that: "Move/Change Plan".
Click the dropdown box labeled "PLANS" and select one of the Ironman plans (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced - whatever Coach Rich told you). It's one of the first 3 or 4 selections in the dropdown. Next, click the "End Date" and select the DATE OF YOUR RACE.
Click SAVE. Now you are in the Ironman Plan and I guarantee you see swimming.

    Hi Jeff,

    Yes, you're missing a lot :-)

    1. Go here
    2. Read the instructions on the page for loading up your first training plan. I've included them here below.
    3. That should be in it.

What you're missing is that you actually need to load up the correct training plan according to the schedule I've created for you in your Triathlon Season Roadmap (TSR).

    +++++++++++++

Loading up your first training plan:

This week I want you to load up the 2016 Advanced EN*Full Training Plan, setting it to end on 7/24.

    Here's how you'll do that:

    • Go to the My Training Plan page.
    • Look for the Move/Change My Plan icon.
    • Follow the instructions to load up your first, and subsequent, training plans, per my guidance in the RoadMap and screencast.
    • If you need more help loading up your training plan, please refer to this screencast: Move/Change Your Training Plan

Good luck and, remember, if you have questions about your Triathlon Season Roadmap (TSR), simply start your own thread in the Macro Forum here

    Thanks!

    Coach Rich Strauss

  • That's my bad. Thanks for clarifying. Much appreciated!

    No worries, it happens

  • Coach- what about strength training? Can I insert 2 x / week sessions of 60min? I usually do at lunch time on whatever day I can fit it in. What do you think?
