  • Jim at ERO told me the Giro Advantage 2 is one of the lids that tests well on most athletes. $70 on Amazon right now. I used one for IMAZ when my LG P-09 got recalled. It felt about as fast as the LG lid, but doesn't have the same aesthetic value. Jim said the LG lid tests well on most athletes too, but it's not a bargain.
  • What Gabe said. Unless you test you don't really know, so I would go with what Jim says works for most. The Giro Advantage 2 fits the bill. Dave mentions another good choice.
  • Based on ERO recommendations I picked up a NEW Giro A2 for just $100 last year. $70 is outstanding! It must kill them that their old school model is out performing the latest/greatest overpriced helmets by a long shot.
  • thanks all.

I did spring for the P-09.   only $200.

  • the P09 will not work.     sent it back.     due to my fit and back curve and funny shaped head, do not think any long tailed helmet will work.     there is just no way for me to make those types of helmets work.

splurged for POC Cerebel.           keep the Giro Air Attack for hot races.

  • I've been using the Giro Advantage 2 for several years, it's pretty solid - and fits my fat head!
If I can try one of the new Girl Aerohead MIPS, they're going for $250 on trisports (before any discount we might get from EN), but I'll never buy something like that without trying it on first, but that's just me.
  • Right but I can not use a tailed helmet like that, I now know.    the tail would be sticking straight up much of the time.
  • Just got my aerohead MIPS from my LBS. Fits like my Synthe and the shield looks awesome with great magnet system. the width is tight when putting it on like the advantage. I will try it tomorrow on my WEEK 18 RR. It's supposed to be high 80's with a "bit" of humidity. I'll let you know.
  • Robin, I'm using the Bontrager Ballista road aero helmet (no tail). Great ventilation. No reliable aero testing on it (there was one test by Bike Radar that had it very good, but the methodology was panned on ST). Great crash replacement policy; they sent me a new one for free since I crashed in the first year. Runs about $175 unless you can find one discounted.
  • Yes i was looking at the Aerohead. Seems like same idea as the POC Cerebel i now have.

Ballista seems like same idea as Air Attack. But performs better. Maybe i will look at that for hot races.
