Doing QUASSY half in Sunday - should I taper at all this week?

My A Race is imlp but I have Quassy half this upcoming Sunday and I know it is a "challenge" to say the least. How should I adjust my training plan this week?

  • Shelly, great question! We recommend that you do the normal week through Wednesday (Bike and run that day).

Then Thursday is a 45 minute run, with the last 15' of that run in Zone 3 / Half Marathon Pace.

Friday is the planned swim only.

Saturday is off / travel / check in...then Race baby race!

Looking forward to cheering you on!

  • Awesome this is exactly what I needed and funny but what I had planned without knowing specifically what was recommended. image Your bike and run course reviews have been very helpful. I did the bike course last weekend for the first time and it was helpful to know what to expect. Now just hoping I finish successfully on Sunday. Definitely nervous!
  • Can't wait to cheer you on! :-)
  • Great to meet you and Mariah yesterday!!! Just wondering now that Quassy is over how I should get back into my training for IMLP. Thought I would take today off (very sore hamstrings and glutes) and then start tomorrow with a swim and a slow short run in the evening if I can and then back to the normal plan. Does that sound right? Also going to be in LP this weekend training and was hoping on doing a double loop on Saturday and a run on Sunday. Should I try to ride at all on Sunday or just focus on maybe a swim and a run?
  • Shelly, we recommend that you go monday off, Tuesday swim, Wed bike only (easy), Thurs run steady (hopefully back).

This weekend you can do the 112 on saturday (will be warm on lap two!) and I would just plan on a Sunday Run. Weather doesn't look so nice!

Normally I would say bike 1 loop on Sunday , but I don't think it's worth it!
