WA State Peeps- suggestions please

Hi Everyone,

I've convinced my childhood BF to train for her first IM.  She's an amazing cyclist, super fit and  has completed a marathon. Although she knows how to swim, she's not a swimmer and wants to take lessons.

Short of doing a Goggle search I wanted to post something to see if anyone out there has suggestions based on her location.

What part of the state? There are several tri teams based in Seattle, Redmond, Mercer Island, Kent/Covington, Kitsap County -- she might be able to join their coached pool sessions, or get private lessons from a coach. Also, SwimLabs in Issaquah offers video analysis and coaching.

I train with Raise The Bar in Covington (http://www.weraisethebar.com/). That's about 20 minutes from Snoqualmie which is about the same as the drive to Redmond where another team is located. Raise the Bar is great! We have Wednesday night coached open-water swim workouts throughout the summer, and the team runs several races and training camps.

There are several excellent swim coaches with Raise The Bar...Patty Swedberg is an excellent swimmer and swim coach (also the founder of RTB). Erin Eronemo is the coach that worked with me this winter and took my CSS from 1:36 to 1:26.

I also recommend RTB coaches - I am a member also. When I started my IM journey Lois Marquat helped me - she is in Tacoma - 6 sessions with her helped whittle 8 minutes off my IM swim.

Hey Dana - I live in North Bend - super near Snoqualmie. I am on RTB too and all those coaches mentioned are awesome. Glad she got an RTB coach. I wasn't happy with Swimlabs in issaquah so wouldn't recommend personally.
