Race Report
Just completed a 2 mile open water race in Lake Erie-Cleveland, home of the hopefully peaceful RNC. While a 2 mile OWS race doesn't seem that big-a training day for a lot of people-for me it was HUGE. This was what I was dreading about my first IM, 2.4 miles in open water.
Race was great-slow 1:08-but since I was worried about being pulled out of the water at the 1:30 cutoff, I was PSYCHED when I saw that time. More importantly, I kept my heart rate down the whole swim, maintained good form (for me), and concentrated on strong sighting and staying on course. All in all, kept it together really well, and when I turned the last bouy I felt like I would have been up for another mile. There were a few people behind me, so at the end I was able to stop looking at the kayaks and worrying there were going to pull me out for being too slow.
All in all, when I hit shore and saw that time, for the first time in 7 months I thought IM North Carolina really can happen if I just stick with the EN plan and keep on pushing.

Congratulations overcoming that mental milestone, finding the strength to get it done and bringing it home strong! Very motivating from my view!
