IMMT training advise

Coach Patrick...and others who know MT course...
I am driving up there today to get some training rides in on course.

Any specific suggestions I should look out for? Any tricky parts where I may want to ride a few times?

Anything else you want to throw may way to help out while there would be great.

On a personal note, will have the family with me so in case of other fun "normal life" things to do for the kiddos, let me know. I hear it's a nice place.

Thanks!

  • I am not Coach P, but I can answer

I really recommand you riding the "duplessis" part which is about a 7K climb with alot of turns (its the really the only technical part)

When I am short on time, I really like to do back and forth on Duplessis and continue on Montee Ryan until I get to the 117 highway (We will ride the Montée Ryan on race day) - Higway 117 is a nice to do, but its a rolling hill section and YES it is safe to ride which ever day, the bike lane is large enuff for 2 bikes.

They always leave buyois during summer time, as such you can swim the 3.8KM, not on the real course, but on the side of the lake. Kids can play on the beach, dad can read and mom can swim, its really well adapted for families.

If you prefer, MT has now a 50M pool with 7-8 lanes http://www.complexeaquatiquemont-tremblant.ca/

The run course is also marked, or just follow the blue line.

As for kids, alot of activities on the mountain, but I recommand you to buy the passport instead of paying each time, you will be saving alot, Kids might also try the ice cream in the village, which is the best in Montreal.

If you need to buy groceries or anything like that, when you will be arriving on the 117, STOP at the IGA or Maxi food store, a better selection and you will avoid the MT resort taxe (6%) and also better quality.. same thing if you wish to go eat to restaurants, get out of the resort and follow the blue line (lol) to the old town, better quality and without resort taxe.

Do not hesitate if any other question !
  • On Duplessis, you can't miss the turn around, you will see it on the road

and highway 117 starts when you arrive at the Gentleman Club (lol) / Tim Hortons

  • Thanks Francis....very helpful!! Arrived very late last night so getting our bearings today. Thunderstorms for tomorrow and wet today so could be an interesting week!
  • Dawn, lots of good riding up there. Don't forget the bike path goes for miles too...good for inclement weather riding...let us know how it goes!!!
