2016 IM Louisville- BIG DAY!

Week 11 - Another "Big Day"
Hey Louisville crew!!
So this week…...Second “Big Day”

Things to pay attention to

Nutrition

Watching your pacing (are you making mistakes early on?)

Don’t “rest” in-between but no need to go full fledge tri geek and set up transitions where you sprint from event to event

What coaches want to see this week is us talking about how we are going to prepare. Post your “big day” check list here, a chance to even practice your “race plan” and “race report”

Let’s not wait until after the big day to start discussing what we did or didn’t do. Lets plan it out, write it out and discuss it now so we can help each other. Then debrief with this awesome Crew after the big day on what worked and what didn’t.

This will set you up for your race rehearsals closer to race day.

****There is still time to find a friend who is racing Louisville or your other IM events and give them the best gift you could give someone— no not a power meter, a free 30 days of Endurance Nation. Sharing is caring! (you get a Free month when they sign up also)**** give them friend@endurancenation.us email and we take care of the rest!

Ya’ll are EN rock stars…. soooo what’s on your mind?

Nutrition and rest are key for me this week. Monday's TSB was -37.6 ... it's trending better today but I don't want to carry that fatigue too long. A rest day may be in order.

I'll be doing the Chattanooga Camp. Are any IM Lou folks heading there? I'm not planning to do a full-on race rehearsal as my longest ride has only been 75 miles.

    @paul

My TSB is -33 going into today and I am feeling quite tired.  I am somewhat new to the Training peak measures.  Do you have a number you try and stay under?

I would think that the training plans are set up to put our stress level "just about right".  However, I know I biked longer/harder this last weekend than the plan called for so I am too low too.

I want to be at a good place going into Saturdays Big day.  While we shouldnt be rested, is there a "good TSB number for heading into a day like that?

@ Julie... Everyone's numbers are different. I find I feel ok when TSB is in the low -20's... But after a big weekend a few weeks ago I topped out at -57.7... I'm doing camp weekend this week and I'm sure it'll bounce back up there by Monday. Be conscious of how you feel and if that's too fatigued... Take a note of where it is and a day off. The trick is to find the maximum amount of work you can absorb... Not to run yourself directly into a wall.

Spot on Ed, all great points! I do okay in the negative mid-teens for a few days, but it helps to get back close to zero every so often. My body tells me when it's time for a break -- the key is being able to listen -- all these workouts over the next 8 weeks seem vital.

Posted my nutrition plan for tomorrow in the wrong forum but got great feedback.

My plan for the big day is pretty much as prescribed.  Meeting friends to swim open water for an hour.  We will then get in a good 4 hour ride back to where we swam and run the hour from there.

Nothing special - just making sure I drink and eat enough.  We are finally looking for some slightly less humidity for which I will be very thankful.

My goal is to be able to run with some level of comfort for the full hour.

FYI - I just purchased a new Specialized Shiv today.  I wont get it until next week but excited.  Treated myself to a birthday present so my husband didnt have to worry about getting me anything image

Currently riding a Ketral Talon which I like but I think the Shiv will be better for the race.

Where are we to post Big Day stuff - on this thread or the Week 12 Testing thread or other?

Seems that posting to the current thread would be best - once it's published we can put any topic in there
