Schedule/Weather

Coach P,

1.)  I'll be 100% honest with you. Since I just got back on a normal work schedule I've been able to complete most of the workouts in week 9 but not all. Did my long run on Thursday but ended up doing the first 15' at "threshold pace" as opposed to TRP. Wasn't able to complete the 2nd run of the day on Thursday. Did the swim on Friday, was able to walk my dogs before the storms came in Saturday. And was able to ride Before the rain set in. Long story short. PCB has inclement weather for the next two weeks and the pool will be open during my work hours. I can get on my trainer and run on the treadmill on base but I just wanted to run that by you to see what you think as far as other options for workouts.

2.)My sister and her family will be coming in town this weekend and I don't want to spend that much time away from them. Any suggestions? Thanks again for all your help.

  • Tim, great to hear from you. I was just trying to pull up your Garmin account but the wifi in my car is weak...I'll hit that soon!

I think that week is pretty solid...kudos to you for making it fit. Note if you can't get both runs in on Thursday, I recommend you move run #2 to Sunday after a (shortened) bike. That way your weekly volume is still up there...

I am not too worried about the swim itself as your fitness will still be high. If the swim is out, then you can replace it with a steady (NOT THRESHOLD) run. I would take the mondays off. And maybe hit the gym on base pre/post treadmill, to do some light back / shoulder work to keep the upper body on point. (That would be bonus work; light weight and high reps).

Re this weekend, can you adjust this week to get in any extra time to bike on Friday? If your schedule isn't flexible then ride it out...AM and PM sessions..we can always get a bit more riding next weekend but I'll take a few hour trainer rides as they add up as well (keep them in the Zone 3 / ABP effort).
