Ironman TriClub Competition Announcement: We Need Your Help!

Team -

Just a quick update on the Ironman® TriClub program for 2017.  As many of you know, Endurance Nation has won the Division I Global Championship for this program every year since its inception. We have really enjoyed being a part of the competition and we love watching you race and compete!

What you might not know is just how complicated this program is for Endurance Nation.

Due to the fact that people are part of Endurance Nation for coaching, but may also be a member of a local triathlon club, there can be a lot of confusion as to who is racing for what organization. The net is that as a staff we spend between three and five hours
per week trying to correct Ironman’s roster to reflect our participants. That is not a typo.

The net is this: the best way to represent the Team is in your hands.

We can no longer continue to chase Ironman every week, submitting and correcting rosters, in a quest to be champions.  We have awesome people like yourself to coach and support instead!

So if you haven’t done so already, here’s how you can register to confirm that you are with Endurance Nation :

How to Sign Up for the Ironman TriClub Program
[Watch the Video]

The best way to sign up is to register for Ironman’s newsletter. Don’t worry, you can un-check all the boxes you don’t want, but this is how it works:

  • Go to http://www.ironman.com/triathlon/subscribe.aspx

  • Enter your name, email, gender, birthday, and type the name Endurance Nation into the club affiliation box. Use the checkboxes to fine-tune your contact preferences. Then click Submit.

  • Go to your inbox and find an email from Ironman titled “IRONMAN Contact Confirmation”
  • In that email, click the confirmation link (you have just 24 hours to do this part!).
  • You are all set!

How to Confirm [Race Weekend]

When you are checking in at Registration over your race weekend, it’s worth stopping by the TriClub table just to confirm you are signed up for Endurance Nation.

Of course, you will also get a reminder before your next race (1x per year) and we will also schedule a one-time annual reminder about this program (probably January). But otherwise, we can no longer focus our time and energy on winning this program when we should be better serving you by putting that time towards coaching and supporting you.

Brenda will continue to post monthly updates to the dashboard so you can see how we are doing.  If you have questions about the TriClub Program or your club affiliation, please direct all of those to Brenda as she is a rockstar at keeping track of it all.

Of course we don’t know the final results until the end of every season. So thank you for representing us, thank you for understanding, and go rip it up on race day!

  • i am glad you are addressing this issue. i would like to share one of my experiences, because i have been split on whether to register as Team EN or my local tri club. During one of my races, last year i selected EN as my club for that race. My tri club, like EN, would review the participant list looking for club members. Somehow my club was able to change my affiliation (for that race ) from Team EN. So i totally understand the reasons for the policy change and appreciate the effort.

    Keith,

Thanks for understand. To be clear, we are still very, very interested for having our athletes race as affiliated with EN, if that's what they want to do, and in winning this competition for the 4th year a row. But the fact is that the process that WTC set up for scrubbing rosters, etc is just stoopid and is kicking our asses. Not only does the WTC staff running the program seem to entirely rotate out of the position every season, their processes and procedures seem to be made up as they go.

For us, this results in a lot of running around, wasted time, etc so this post is about putting the process in the athletes' hands so we can move on to more important things.

    Thanks again for understanding!

  • On a personnal note. Don't take as granted to be affiliated to EN. For 70.3 MT I was not affiliated to EN but at the same moment the list for IMMT came out and was affiliated to EN on that list.

When to see my profile online and was really affiliated to EN.. I had to contact someone referred by Mariah to get it fixed for 70.3 MT.

Yup...and this is exactly the BS we're talking about. Just too much for us to track and fix back here.

  • Since it seems like our affiliation can be changed without our knowledge, sounds like part of our Athlete Check In process should be to check your Club affiliation. Ironman Tri Club usually has a table at athlete check in where you can designate/check your affiliation.
  • Derrek, exactly...we recommend that (1) if you want to race with EN you (2) not only affiliate via email/online but you (3) check in when registering.

@Francis, back in the day EN could change that affiliation to EN if you told us you wanted to. Now as it stands EN CAN'T do that anymore, but other clubs STILL CAN. As a result, it's a one way street out of EN that neither we or you can technically control.

As a backdrop so you understand where we are at, I emailed an Ironman® staffer to ask them a question about IMMT. She emailed me back to ask me what that was. image Case Closed.
  • How do I check regarding my most recent races whether I am listed as EN?
  • I just resigned up. can you all tell me if the Vineman went to you all? I hope so! I swim with Austin T3and they wanted to add me for some other minor item about Costa Rica 70.3 coming up... Don't think they added me to their roster though...
  • I finally figured out the team points and some folks are missing from Vineman for sure. You might want to check it out. It could be they signed up with their local club but I didn't see Joe Garrison on the list...

I've asked Brenda to circle back to this thread and give instructions on how to fix this with WTC

  • Updated 2016 Division I rankings below.

As result of our 1st place performances at IMCDA and IMMT this past week, we've closed to within 7k points of 1st place BSR! And we still have a LOT of racing left in the 2016 season!

Please visit the first post in this thread for instructions on how to ensure you're WTC knows you're affiliated with EN so your points count towards Endurance Nation winning it's 4th consecutive global championship title!
