Flo Wheels

Hi all,

Been thinking for months to upgrade my wheels. I actually use rear and front those wheels:

They were installed with the bike - Kuota Kalibur.

I am thinking to upgrade to :

Rear :

Front :

Before pulling the trigger, I emailed flo with few questions, happy with the answers.. read on ST and they provide awesome support !

I like the prices, but would like comments within EN if any before buying, I'll buy after IMMT.

Thanks again !

  • Francis,

I just got the carbon / aluminum (60 mm for front and 90 mm for rear).  I've only ridden them once, but liked the results.  I am going to use them to race an aquabike in a few weeks.  I plan to get a rear disc from them for my next IM (maybe IMMT).  I've heard several interviews from these guys and love them.  They could charge a lot more but don't.  Check out their blog!

  • Hey fellow Canadian just down the road. Francis give Tim Cronk a dingle, I believe he has a wheel or two from Flo ! I to am keeping an eye on this company!
  • I like em... Own a set of 30's , 60 front, 90 rear, and disc.... all aluminum brake track.
  • I like 'em too..... Had to get a set of 60's to sweeten my Roubaix.  Looks sharp and love them!

  • I have 60 on front 90 on back on my tri bike use a wheelbuilder cover on back. Use them 4 everyday training very happy with price to performance ratio
  • I have a Flo disc+ a set of 30's...love them. Will probably get a 90 rear soon.
  • I am also really surprised at the price compared to other wheels, I was in the thinking they might be "cheap" when you compare prices to zipp, HED

I have a Flo 60 on the front and I really like it. They keep Thier prices down by doing the design work on the computer with CdA modeling software rather than prototyping and testing. They also use aluminum rims with carbon fairings which is cheaper than all carbon. The hubs are very smooth. They're inexpensive but not "cheap".
  • FP,

I recently got the same alum + carb disc and an all-carbon 90 front. Better braking on alum rear. I like them. The 90 is 1/2 pound lighter than the alum + carbon 90, and that weight is similar to Zipp and Enve, if not less. Quality appears very high. Disc isn't solid, hard carbon like my Zipp 9. It's more like a wheel cover. Had I known this, I might have gone with a 90 rear and a $100 cover from Wheelbuilder for max versatility.

    Just my $0.02.

    MR
  • MR : Yeah was thinking the same regarding buying the 90 read and put a wheelbuilder... stupid question: does the disc makes that awesome noise ??!? lol

Seems the general comments are that these are good wheels, well priced. Will pull the trigger post IMMT and will have enuff time before IMAZ!

    Thanks all for your comments
  • I like my Flo's also. I have a disc, front and rear 90, and a front 60. I've been riding them for 3 years now with no issues. I may buy a new carbon set for IMAZ.... image

  • @MR: that's what i'll do, just bought a 90 rear, will try and get a wheel cover and sell my Flo disc
  • just pulled the trigger !

alum + carb disc and an all-carbon 90 front, lets hope I will not get caught with the HST tax when the wheels cross the boarder ! hah
  • I run a FLO 60 front & 90 rear on my TT. I thought about a disk cover for the rear but read it would not fit so never tried it. Reading here it appears some of you are using a wheel builder cover w your FLO 90?
  • +1 more recommendation for FLOs.  I have a set of 60/90s that I've trained on and raced for almost three years.  I also have a set of 30s.  I use the 30 upfront for windy days or technical courses such as St George 70.3.  They've been bullet proof.  For the price of a set of Zips, you could basically buy every combination of FLOs -- 30/60 upfront and 90/disc in the back.
  • Sorry to jump in here but is the consensus that the Wheelbuilder disk is worth it? Would love to try one out for my aqua bikes this season!!! TIA!!!
  • @Patti Thompson the Wheel Builder disc is definitely worth it. In fact I just put mine on the back wheel because I'm racing Puerto Rico 70.3 in 3 weeks.
  • I have Flo 60/90 on my bike.  A friend let me borrow his Zipp Super 9 and 808 front for a while.  But riding around on that much money that wasn't mine made me nervous, so I got the Flo's.  The kicker?  I'm faster on the Flo wheels than the Zipps.  Plus the 60 is stable in very high winds.  The 808 had me abandon a ride because I was getting pushed all over the place.  I just put a Wheel Builder aero jacket on the 90.  But haven't ridden it yet.
  • @Mark Maurer mine should be delivered by Friday! Thanks!
  • I've had Flo 60/90 for three years now and love them.  Fast, solid as a rock and it feels good knowing that my wheels don't cost more then my bike!
