Swim Smooth: interesting resource

Hadn't seen anything else in the forums about this resource.  Anyone else?  Am I clueless?  Just spent a solid half hour checking this out and will be back.  For someone relatively swim stupid, seemed very helpful, especially in comparison to trolling youtube for video of Michael Phelps, etc.

  • I get their newsletters (about one a week). They've got some good info that I find pretty helpful.
  • I have one of their DVD's which has helped a ton - some good recent vids of Jodie Swallow & Scott Neyedli swim technique - 'Mr Smooth' desk-top application is cool!
  • I watch the Mr. Smooth application before races so I can visualize myself doing smooth, easy, good technique swimming.  Love how you can speed up or slow down the stroke rate and view from all angles.

  • I have  the DVD set and it has helped me get faster this year.    I like the Mr Smooth application - im a visual learner.   One of the interesting charts on the site is the sweet spot of stroke rate vs speed.  All in all good info on the site.

  • Thanks for posting that link, and for everyone's feedback. Excellent site, and I'm glad I know know about it.

  • I haven't bought the DVD, but I did buy a pair of the finis paddles they recommend for freestyle. They are roughly triangular in shape and have a "keel". They are not built for improving power but rather for making sure your entry and catch are appropriate. They sort of "self correct" if you do it wrong because of the keel and the fact that you only use a single loose loop to hold them on.

For me, they did exactly as advertised, i.e., helped me clean up my entry and catch. I can't swear they made me faster because I've simultaneously been working on fitness, but I at least feel somewhat more efficient in that part of the stroke.
