  • thanks I'm in, loaded the plan, will start Monday. Can I use he treadmill for some of these runs? I ran a warm up this AM then a "hard " mile and a cooldown mile this morning. I will use that 1 mile to calculate the zones initially. Put them in my profile.

  • Jim, yes you can use the TM, no problem. Great to have you on board!

  • Hi Coach Patrick,

I'm working the run durability plan as prescribed. I'm doing a couple runs on the TM. I thought I read somewhere on the site 1% grade. Is that correct?
  • Between 1% to 2% is right on. Some variety is nice...don't be afraid to mess around with the increments!

  • Coach Patrick,
This weekend I will complete the 4 wk initial run durability plan. It has gone well and running has improved as has my speed. Where do I go from here?
  • Jim, nicely done! You have about 6 weeks to the start of the November OutSeason® (10/31 of all days!), so I suggest you load Run Durability Two for now...do you have any Strava or Garmin Connect profile I can look at to see your progress? Thanks!
  • i just got a garmin 920xt. I haven't figured out how to share the info with you or anyone else. Is the info on this website or garmin I guess
  • Jim, that's great!!

Here's how you share stuff via your FREE Garmin Connect profile (where your uploaded workouts): https://connect.garmin.com/features/share

You can create a FREE Strava account (www.strava.com) and then sync Garmin Connect to it (http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2014/08/automatic-mapmyfitness-endomondo.html). This is nice because you can join the Endurance Nation group on Strava (https://www.strava.com/clubs/search and search for Endurance Nation) then set your First Name to be "Jim Passais" and your Last Name to be (EnduranceNation.us)...now you are official!!! image
  • I think I have this all connected. I see my workouts uploaded to stava from garmin, found the group, requested to join... correct
  • Yes sir, you most certainly do. It all looks good to me! Onwards!

  • wasn't feeling great this week. Moved things around a little swam monday, will get 4 runs in the miles 2 strides and long run. figure I will be full strength next week.
  • Sounds good... let me know how it's going -- happy to jump in.
  • Coach Patrick,
Wanted to provide a quick update and get your thoughts. My schedule has been extremely busy the past couple weeks. Hence getting all the workouts in has been a challenge. Plus it's about time to move the bike indoors. What I am not trying to miss are the runs on the run durability 2. I may need to use the Monday rest up day instead of taking it off based on my weekly schedule and I currently don't have 2 hrs outside to ride. Running is getting stronger each week. If you have suggestions about the bike ride or other parts let me know. Things will likely settle down but in the meantime your thoughts are helpful... otherwise I will do everything possible to make the runs, Can usually fit a swim in somewhere, Ride the trainer 60-90 minutes at one setting?
  • Jim, great update, and I hear you on the work / workout challenge. I am glad that the Run Durability stuff is working...and you want to keep it that way. Even if it means you only run a mile that day (instead of the regular workout) let's do it.

Your "rest day" can be flexible...I do that too...I use my Monday as a training day, because I expect life will just crush some other day, and that "extra" workout is now in the bank.

If you are home on the weekends for sure, you can spli tthat ride across both days...one hour each day (one quality, other steady) if that makes it more palatable on the trainer. Thoughts? You can always do one ride on Saturday, but want to be mindful of your schedule!

Let me know what you think!

  • Hi Patrick,

I finished up run durability 2, Loaded #3 and will get to work on it. I assume that would be your recommendation. Running is improved overall. I may update my zones based on some of my recent times. Jim
  • Yes to #3...and looking at Strava it's nice to see those times drop on the run as you pile on the consistency. Nice work!!!
  • Piling on work may be a stretch. My work schedule should slow down toward the end of next week which will allow me to hit all the runs. Have had a great deal of travel recently.
  • I meant consistency. I don't care about volume at this point...just the daily dose of work.

I know you've been slammed, so hitting your baseline metrics is great right now! Keep it up, November's almost here!!!
