Pat O Tri the Wildwoods Race Report

Big Kudos and thanks to Rich and Patrick and all at EN for helping me to get going again after my year off due to ziplining caused fib/tib, tri-mal ankle fracture. 7th race completed on Saturday.  Local race close to me in NJ during the summer months  - Tri the Wildwoods International Race Distance in Wildwood, NJ.

Fast swim for me/the field due to strong ocean current on Saturday.  Good for me with my average swim skills.  Short swim too - I was out of the water in 19:00 minutes.  3 minutes surrendered to others.  Offseason focus on core, swim mechanics/speed and keep bike strength.  Can't afford to give up 3+ minutes on swim with my limited ability to run.

Bike - 23.3mph.  271 watts on the bike.  Felt great on the bike.  Fastest bike split in the field.  EN program continues to pay big dividends.  Focused workouts work great for me due to limited time to train due to work travel schedule.

7:46 per mile on the run.  8:09 out for the first 3 miles on hard beach sand.  7:38 on the way back in on the boardwalk.  7:46 avg run speed.

1:45:44 overall time.  6th overall, 1st in age group, 1st Masters and award for fastest bike.

Fun day for sure.  Might be my last race of the year due to work travel.  Plan to focus on bike and swim in the offseason to give my ankle/leg a rest.  Scheduled MRI in November to see how things are holding together and to assess total damage and recovery from accident.

Long distance racing might be a thing of the past for me at this point but I had a ton of fun racing the shorter distances this year.

Thanks for the help and support.
