ATTN KQ people! Help me get a set of P1 pedals!

Power tap is offering you uber- athletes 50% off the powermeter of your choice-

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to use their code to get me a set (I will pay of course- plus any ancillary costs)!

Thanks!

  • Not to hijack Satish's post, but I would love to be 2nd in line if there is more than 1 KQ person willing to do this (my PM is out for the count and need a new one)! I got the same email today from and clearly wasn't thinking as opportunistically....
  • I posted the same on the main page...I'm not a fan of the offer being only to KQs, but oh well, if our KQs folks aren't going to utilize, please help some brothers and sisters out!! :o))
  • I'll stand in that line as well.
  • What's the link to promo?   Is it a single -use code?   I could readily help where it makes sense - a lot of EN brothers and sisters have done proxies for me in the past.

Where it might fall down logistically is the import/export/handling.   Thinking aloud here ... I live in Canada, so I could either take advantage of the promo and have the item shipped here, and get dinged with taxes and duties (and possibly get dinged again if I were to then ship back the actual buyer in the USA, except in  Satish's case), or I could have it shipped to my hotel while I'm in Kona, and then reship/flip them back to buyers in the US (and could just bring it back to Canada and ship to Satish when I get back on Cdn soil).  The Kona hotel->reshipping creates some degree of risk that the item could get misplaced in handling and shipping, but I guess that's what insurance and tracking are for.

Let me know details of how I can help make this happen?

  • Dave...here is quote from Slowtwitch:

At Virtual Training we recognize all the hard work that goes into making it to Kona and want to reward the countless hours and dedication you’ve given to meet that goal. For that reason we have teamed with our friends at PowerTap to offer you 50% off your power meter of choice.
To receive your coupon code please contact PowerTap Concierge, Jamie Hartmann.Offer expires 10.1.16 (limit one PowerTap per person).

Perhaps you can have it shipped to a different address than the billing address. Not sure what duties and taxes would run, but I'd be willing to try it...though understand I'm #3 in the thread.

  • jhartmann@saris.com is the email...hotlink didn't carry over.
  • I will get my code and get back to you all.
  • FWIW, I would never ship something as expensive as a PM to a hotel, I have many experience with hotels (I spend half a month, every month in hotels, all over the world)
-Some site will not validate the hotel adress (ie: performancebike.com)
    - Some hotel would not take the package if the guest is not physically in the hotel at the time of delivery (ie: Sheraton Paris)
-some will just lose your package (they have a storage room and depending of who is working that day, they just give u the key to the room and u try and find your package, needless to say that some guests will just pick up whatever the heck they want)...(Marriott, Crowne Plazza, Hilton, etc..)
I think most site have different billing/shipping adress option...
    Good luck everyone
  • Thanks for looking into it everyone- keep us bound to the mainland folks  posted!  I wonder if they deliver it to you or you pick it up at Kona?

  • FWIW - I emailed this Jamie person last night and explained that I'd like to give Saris the "opportunity" to help me get to Kona by offering me the discount. I know...it's a long shot, but figured it was worth a try since it seems that they emailed everyone on their list!

Meanwhile, thanks to those EN Kona folks who are willing to throw a bone to the rest of us - much appreciated!
  • Just saw this thread. Ordered one and offered it to a local friend. Ships next day for free to the shipping address you enter. Pretty amazing deal.
  • I think Mariah should work with PT to extend the deal to EN athletes; 3 time World Champs, yeah? :o))))
  • Agreed - I'd be ready to drop my Vectors for this offer...
  • I think Brad Marcus called up PT & on request got a 25% discount thrown at him. I know I reached out to them after missing a deal on a "trade in your trainer" for 20% off a powerbeam, they gave me the 20% through my LBS & didn't even want the trade in which I sold for $200... Bonus...

@ Mariah - getting a sponsorhip dealio with PT / Saris / Cycleops, would be HUGE!!!
  • As Scott D mentioned, I did in fact email the person handling the promotion at Powertap and although he would not give me the 50% KQ discount, he offered me a 25% discount. Since I am in need of a new PM, I figured why not...so my discounted P1's were shipped yesterday.

The point man at Powertap handling this promotion is Jamie Hartmann (jhartmann@saris.com). I believe he is checking the name of every request that comes in, so instead of just using the promo code that he sent me, KONA2016-25, I suggest that you email him if you are interested so you don't get the kibosh put on your order after he reviews it...and trust me he will. How do I know? I tried changing the 25 to a 50 in the code when I ordered, and although I was given the 50% discount initially, Jamie quickly sent me an email letting me know I would not be receiving it! Anyway, in my email I simply asked him for the 50% discount and he sent me the one for 25%, and as I mentioned, he knew exactly who I was when he processed my order.

I believe the promotion goes another week, so get after it if you're interested.

  • FYI, a week ago I emailed Jaimie and asked, as a KQ'er last year (and a few other years), could I get the deal? After all, the original email did not stipulate *current* Kona qualifiers. He sent me the "50" code, and I received my half price pedals today.
