The IN List:
Added 11/9/16:
The Tour has announced the stages and cities for the race so I'm able to begin to craft the logistics and ride plan for the camp. 2017 will bring back some great stages and riding opportunities!
Tour Dates: Sunday, May 14th through Saturday, May 20th, beginning with Stage 1 on Sunday in Sacramento and finishing in Pasadena on Saturday.
Saturday, May 13th -- Campers assemble in Sacramento.
Campers in LA or flying into LA can get a ride with me and the camp vehicles on Saturday, leaving my place at about 8a for the ~6-7hr drive to Sacramento.
Stage 1: Sacramento, Sunday May 14th
This will likely be a flat and fast stage with a circuit finish (which we can't do). This will be a great opportunity for us to get dialed into working with each other as a group, group riding skills, etc. At the conclusion of our riding we'll pack everyone up and drive to Modesto, our lodging for the night before the ride to San Jose.
Stage 2: Modesto to San Jose, Monday, May 15th
There are several scenic, remote, and epic roads to get us over to San Jose. This will be a great stage! After the riding is done we'll drive to Monterrey, our lodging before the "queen stage" of the camp!
Stage 3: Pismo to Morro Bay, Tuesday, May 16th
While the race is doing their thing, we will do our own thing and something you do NOT want to miss: we will ride ~100 miles down the coast, from Monterrey to Naciemento-Furgesson Road over the coastal range, into Fort Hunter-Liggett and finish the ride at Jolon Road. This is hands down one of the best days of cycling you will ever have, period, full stop. It's made even better by us not being chased by the Tour, allowing us to take our time and really enjoy the ride. We then drive to Santa Barbara.
Stage 4: Santa Barbara to Santa Clarita, Wednesday, May 17th
This is another great day of riding, beginning with mediterranean-type terrain and roads out of Santa Barbara, then flat and fast, then some tough climbing to get us into Santa Clarita. We then drive to my home town of Monrovia, where I'll likely host the camp dinner at my place.
Stage 5: Ontario to Mt Baldy, Thursday, May 18th
This route is literally right in my backyard on roads I've been riding forever, and bring back perhaps the best stage of Tour: the finish at the Mt Baldy Ski Lifts after a 5 mile, 8-16% climb on a road packed with over 10,000 cycling fans. I haven't decided where our lodging will be this night, due to the logistics of Stage 6 and 7.
Stage 6: Big Bear Time Trial, Friday, May 19th
This stage will be our opportunity to soak in the excitement of the race as VIPs. The TT course is likely a loop, or some portion of the loop around the lake, which we'll ride before getting our VIP passes on in the pits and the finish. Very light, and much needed, day of cycling for us.
Stage 7: Mtn High to Pasadena, Saturday, May 20th
We finish the camp with an epic day of alpine roads and climbing: Mountain High is a ski resort in Wrightwood, at about 7k feet on the eastern edge of the San Gabriel mountains. The route will take us along Angeles Crest High Highway before dropping us down into Pasadena where the race will either do a circuits of the Rose Bowl or of downtown Pasadena. We'll need to hustle across the Crest to beat these guys because they will be moving! We'll finish in Pasadena, return back to my place to pack up bikes, then use the camp vehicles to get everyone to LAX for their redeye flights home.
Gonna be epic and I can't wait!

Team,
The stages and cities of the Tour have been announced, and while they haven't yet announced the routes, I have a pretty good idea of where the riding will happen. I've started the IN list and have added my draft riding and logistics plans to the posts above.
I've also extended the dates of the price changes and have instituted a $250 full refundable deposit. Full details here.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Kori Martini is IN!
Trent Prough is IN and back for his 3rd ToC!
Yep! I'd say book the last flight out on Saturday, if possible. But 8p is probably the earliest.
Yeah, 4pm on Saturday would be very, very tight. Sunday is better.
I'm pretty pumped about this!
No idea, they haven't published the routes yet and won't for a while. But it would be an ideal place to end our ride there and spectate as they ride by!
