So, while you wait for Coach Rich to get you your Triathlon Season RoadMap™ I think you should load up the Run Durability Plan (level 1, 4 weeks, so set it to end on 11/6. This will get you running more frequently (and will cut some of the biking).
Your bike is already crazy strong with that FTP, but to get you faster later you'll need a baseline of the aerobic running we were talking about. You can start that now.
Let me know when the Master's swim will start, and what days so we can work that into your plan.
Don't worry about "losing" your bike, you'll have the OutSeason® plan soon enough and that will really get you bike back on track (just within the context of your next year).
Let's do this!!!

Ps, what is the qualifying standard for Duathlon Nationals?

Thanks for this, I'll let you know when Master's swim begins.
I'll set up the Run Durability plan today. Thanks I work hard on the bike, although I don't have a fancy tri bike or race wheels, lol. I have a tri bike that's at least 10 years old that was gifted to me. I plan to upgrade for next season but we shall see if my budget permits. At the very least, I plan to get those fancy race wheels you rockstars have.
There is no qualifying time for Duathlon Nationals, but to qualify for Team USA for ITU Worlds which is my reach goal, it's the top 18 from each age group from Nationals. If I can do 2:40 for the 10k run, 40k, 5k event I'll be fine. There usually isn't 18 people competing in the 35-39 age group. In that case they take rankings from the overall season.
sounds good! please note that we don't really recommend getting race wheels alone. There was something can speed it typically better off as icing on the cake, not the main course. I would rather you save your money to invest in a power meter. Especially given the fact that you have some stretch goals. You can always beg / borrow / steal race wheels if that's going to make a big difference for you on the day. Worst case you can rent some for a week before your race. Our number one priority is building your engine!
out of curiosity it might be good for us to determine what your performances have been in the past with that distance. do you have a 10K 40 K 5K overall time and splits?
