Bright and not smokey! I can SEE the mountains! The fires are still there the wind has shifted for the moment. Bike/run here I come!!!! Whoooppppeee.
Well I managed to encourage Hubs strongly last night to complete his trial membership and stop being a wimp! This needs to happen for maritial harmony for the next year. I refuse to be his Coach! Love him dearly. Nope. Not happening. LOL. The challenge for him will be getting the training in. He's on-call 24/7/365. Teaching him how to hack his plan is critical. We never know when he will be gone or how long. The phone rings and he's gone. No time to plan SBR. I'm actually excited to have him come aboard. He's a neat dude with a very logical mind. He will be an asset to the team.
Wait till you see my current project! I'm building kitchen cabinets. FINALLY! This gals got skills. I'm not just a fantastic nurse, friend, mother, wife, athlete, cook. I can use a table saw! Building a base cabinet and island with pull out shelves this week. Wait till you see how I finish it. Look up "unicorn spit." Seriously. It's cool. The girls will have a blast.
Have a great day. ~Jacklyn
PS- Hacked the plan and did the Saturday long ride today. Did a 160 minute ABP ride. Totally maxed the needle to see what the legs could do. No worries Coach. I'm racing the bike. Hammered the hills. 36 miles, climb 1500 ft, pace 15.1 mph. Avg HR 125 bpm. IF 0.64 . Pace took a hit due to herding cows with my bike. Seriously. I was coming down the mountain and out from a driveway came charging 10 yearling cows being followed by 2 dudes on quads. They didn't know I was there. It was pretty cool. But I had to go cow speed for about a mile. Shortly after that I got stung by a bee right on my lip! It hurt so bad. I actually called hubs to come get me. He couldn't so I finished the ride. I took it slow after the sting because it HURT! Luckily i'm not allergic.
Every day is like a massive adventure! I love it all. Really excited to work with your hubby and help him regardless of the schedule. I'm sure they'll be a little friction at the start but I know we can do it! Have a great weekend.
I submitted my TSR. Not sure i did it right. Do you start an official Coachs thread when you receive the TSR?
SO to continue my theme for 2017. Train really hard then get sick right before you toe the line. I have a bladder infection. My HIM is Saturday. Doc says I should be good to go. Antibiotic won't make me sun sensative. We'll see. Right now life sucks. <sigh>. Maybe this year is more about the grind and less about the fireworks and shinny things. (full blown pout in progress).
One good thing. I looked at the temperature profile for Saturday. A cool 78 degrees with a 5 mph wind. I'm actually trying to figure out how to stay warm on the bike without getting crazy. I'm thinking a vest will do.
It rained for a short time!!!! I hope it helps the fire fighters.
Here's your updated Season Plan, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is my best outline of how to proceed with your races, but you can ask any / all questions you want. So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Coach Notes
So, regardless of what happens this weekend, this plan has you recovering...yes, resting...and then building that run engine into 2018. You'll have the flexibility to ride with hubby as needed here...we want consistent, strong and fit. Not flashy!
Then when your run is happy, we can put you in the OutSeason® and build you up right into your half. Again, if Hubs needs a long run or long ride, you can play along (case-by-case basis with me here in the forums if you want confirmation) but you'll have the fitness and structure in the plan to do it!
