DW Call

Coach Patrick,

During our call together you mentioned you would post some direction/thoughts in my micro forum. Our call was over 30 days ago. Did I miss the post or did you need me to do something before you posted to the micro forum?

Onward,

DW

  • David, yeah I do that all the time. No idea how I dropped the ball on your stuff. I will have to see if I have any notes...stay tuned!

  • David, just checked...the only notes I have here is regarding your history as a Middle distance runner (I think you want to get run speed back?) and that your season runs Oct to April....can you get me some more details and I'll get back to you ASAP. I am very sorry for this!

  • No worries mate. I sent a PM to you. Kindly confirm you have received it. I do not want to air my dirty laundry to the group image
  • David, I got it! There's no dirty laundry there I can think of...all good stuff. I am going to outline some initial thoughts for you here and we can get more specific as we go.

    Starting Points

    • Your biking needs some serious love, but it has to be fun.
    • You need swim frequency to build skills.
    • Running is the least of your worries, and can live in maintenance mode for a few months.

    Timeline

    • Fun through July 1, 2017 (six months).
    • July 1, 2017+ is build for 2018 IM.

    Strategy: 6 x 1 Month Blocks

    • Month 1: Swim Skills, Bike FTP
    • Month 2: Swim Skills, Bike VO2 + Volume
    • Month 3: Swim Frequency/Volume, Bike FTP
    • Month 4: Swim Skills, Bike Volume
    • Month 5: Swim Skills, Bike FTP + Volume

    • Month 6: Swim Frequency/Volume, Bike VO2 + Volume

The idea here is to give you monthly focus / targets on the swim to keep you hitting the pool. We can alternate Bike FTP goals with some volume because the weather is nice.

What I need from you now is to tell me when the bike volume stuff happens, as well as what your indoor or Interval bike set up is.

Looking forward to helping you out!

    ~ Coach P
