Long Run on Saturday (before long bike Sunday)
Hey Guys,
Been a while, but i'm glad i'm back for another Outseason! Woo!
This question has probably been asked and thrown around before, but i'm just after the consensus.
Does anyone advocate doing the long run the day before the long bike?
The whole running on fresh legs to mitigate injury vs running on 'tired' legs to simulate fatigue. Generally speaking, anyone favour one over the other and for what reason?
I did the last Outseason with my runs on Saturday, and looking to do the same again this year. But dont know if I should actually be doing them on the Sunday as per prescribed plan.
This would mean a shift in the plan for me by one day, the Tues/Thurs bikes would be on Wed/Friday...Long run Saturday, and Bike on Sunday.
I'd like to hear the coaches, and veterans to chime in with their valued experience in this approach.
Thanks in advance everyone!

There's plenty of time in the last two months before your Big Race to get the "running on tired legs" thing going. Goal now is to improve speed and sport specific strength. The more rest you get prior to the hard workouts (Run Intervals and "Long run"), the more benefit you'll get from the training, and the less risk you'll have of creating niggling sore spots which turn into injuries when you start doing Race Prep.
