Tough Turkey Half Marathon

Height: 5' 8"

Weight (227) has been okay.  Just kind of hanging where I was for Augusta.

 

Distance on Garmin was 12.98 (I really did try to run the shortest distance).

 

2:25:36 – A Personal Record by 40 minutes!!!  Previous open half marathon was the Atlanta Half Marathon in 2011 (3:06:14).

 

I had a great race.  My pace was good throughout the entire race and my last 4 miles were my fastest 4 miles.  I had really looked at the race plan in the wiki and compared my 5k VDot and my last long runs. 

 

Plan:

First 3    11:45-12:00

Next 7   11:30-11:45

Last 3     11:00-11:30 (Empty the tank if I felt good)

 

UCANN (1.5 scoops to 16 oz water) about 45 minutes before the race.

Gel at 45 minutes, 1:15, and 1:45

12 oz water with 1 GU tablet, sipped on it as needed.

Took water/NUUN from aid stations, about every 3 miles.

NO GI ISSUES!!  Felt good the entire race!

Based on my recent runs I felt like if I had a good day that this was what would happen.  Well, I had a good day and look what happened!!
