Tim Sullivan Macro Thread

Hi Tim,

This is your very own “Macro Thread” where you and I can discuss any questions you may have about the Triathlon Season Roadmap (TSR) that I created for you here. This is also a space where we can discuss any big picture, season planning, race schedule and other related issues you may have going forward.

Welcome aboard!

  • Hi Coach.  Thanks for the training plan.  I think its working wonders! I find it amazing how the body can react to all of the stress we put on it.  At any rate, I have some exciting news.  My wife asked if I wanted to do a race in Europe so I've decided to do IM Switzerland on July 30th of this year. IM Texas is April 22nd so from what I have read that seems to be enough time before races. Hopefully that is enough time for me not to feel wiped out.  BTW, I just learned how to "kick" more efficiently in swimming by doing a two beat kick and my 100 times dropped by over 10 seconds to about 1:25 with the same effort! I also have one other question, will I be too tired to do a 12K running race two weeks after IM Texas?
  • Hey Tim,

Nice work on the swim improvement! I think you'll feel flat vs tired for that race. That is, don't expect a snappy, speedy PR, but you'll certainly do no harem. Just have realistic expectations.
  • Hi Coach.  Have you had a chance to update my training plan yet?  I updated my roadmap awhile ago and now that I am done with IM Texas (my first IM and third triathlon), I'd like to see what's coming next :)  I know I have some rest to do. Short story is I signed up for CDA 70.3 at the end of June and plan on doing IM Switzerland on July 30th.  I was happy with my IM Texas race and dont feel very fatigued. Never really hit any terrible times.  I finished IM Texas in 11:30 (which I am happy with) with a 4:19 Marathon which was very steady.  VERY happy with the run. I took it easy on the swim and bike in order to give myself the best chance of finishing the run actually running.  I was least sure of what to expect on the run (VDOT-46 or so), but did end up with a negative split.

    Thanks,

    Tim
  • Tim - you are going to love IM Switzerland!

    Hey Tim,

Nice race and I'm looking forward to our podcast next week! I don't see your submission back here in my queue so it's possible it didn't take. Please resubmit your race calendar and notes again here, sorry for the extra work.
