Dave Tallo Macro Thread
Hola, Rich. Hope you’re doing well. Initial thoughts on the opening volley of the Strategy below? This comes after some honest self-assessment and reflection on last year.
Dave Tallo, age 47
-Goal is sub-10 IM Kona.
-To get ^there^, I need a top-3 AG at IM Whistler. Plan B is try again 3 weeks later at IM Tremblant (I’d be prepared to roll the dice at Tremblant, noting the odds are against me.)
-Strategy: Race success via the run. OS 2017 will be characterized by more readily backing off everything else in order to achieve highest run fitness by end of OS. Marked attention to benchmarking key run workouts, paces, progress, etc. all year, and making adjustments to everything else as needed.
-Lean all year. Very lean in-season.
-Continued core x3 weekly, maybe strength / weights during OS.
-14 week in-season block. I seem to respond past the normal 10-12 week window. Lifestyle and SO both support this.
-nothin' sexy with the bike – just work, to enable running strong off bike.
-continued swim improvement following 2016 progression. 1hr in a wetsuit swim is now within reach.
-Mental work, starting yesterday. Sports psych sessions, daily exercises, building a very tangible mental toolkit to employ in training, and then activate on race day.
