Ryan Padgett Macro Thread
Hi Ryan,
This is your very own “Macro Thread” where you and I can discuss any questions you may have about the Triathlon Season Roadmap (TSR) that I created for you here. This is also a space where we can discuss any big picture, season planning, race schedule and other related issues you may have going forward.
Welcome aboard!

Hi Rich,
I've loaded up the first training plan as instructed and all looks good to go. I've also updated my test results from the weekend so I have good zones to work with. But I am freaking out about one thing - I don't see a Metric/Imperial toggle anywhere on the site. I've lived in Asia for the last 35 years so I really hope there is a switch somewhere I'm not seeing. Too much to ask?
Cheers,
Ryan
No, sorry, we are all Old Math around here, sorry! However, I heard there was a Google Chrome plug-in that would automagically convert stuff for you. Let me research that.
Here it is, try this
Hi Rich,
I've been looking ahead to the next segment after outseason and checking the season schedule I can see that it has somehow reverted to the version 1.0 when I was still planning to by doing a HIM right about now. I think we need to recover version 2.0 where we decided on a 14 week O/S that ends in 3 weeks' time. Can you please take a look?
Cheers,
Ryan
The TSR you see is the only one I have back here. Please submit your complete race schedule to me here, with notes, so I can redo this for you correctly. Thanks!
Cheers,
Ryan
I'm in to the swim camp now but having trouble with the download of the swim ebook. I am able to see the opening screen of the videos in the .pdf, but there is nothing happening when I click the play button. I do need to check out the videos as I am having some trouble figuring out the drills just from the text. I've been swimming the same way for over 40 years, so it feels really weird to change anything (though I guess that means I'm doing it right?).
Anyway, I'm using Google Chrome on a Macbook Pro. Can you please check if you are able to see the videos, and if so, what hardware/browser are you using?
Cheers,
Ryan
You need to open the ebook in Adobe Reader. They won't play in your browser or in Preview.
Hi Coach,
I'm going to need some customization help from you. I'm currently in the Get Faster program, ending on June 18. For the last two weeks (June 4 - June18) I will visiting a school/orphanage in far Northeast India, near the borders of both Bhutan and China. The school sits at about 7,000 feet elevation in the Himalayan foothills. There is basically no flat ground, so my training will be confined to trail running only. Any suggestions as to how I should modify the program to accomodate?
Cheers,
Ryan
Sounds like an epic trip!
Just run as frequently as you can / want to, given your daily schedule, adjustment to travel, etc. 7k feet isn't "that" bad in terms of elevation. Just run according to heart rate and RPE, observing pace (you'll be slower but hard to say by how much). And don't worry about flats vs hills. All hills are good.
Then when you get back just pick up your training right where you're supposed to be.
In other words, don't overthink it. This is a unique opportunity and other things (your work in-country) should take priority over training, so just run as best you can, considering.
Good luck!
