LP Rally ROLL CALL

One week away.  Who is in?  When are you arriving?  Where you staying?  Doing the Whiteface TT on Thursday afternoon leaving mirror lake at 4?

I took the day off so will be in town likely early afternoon and may swim around 2.  Staying at the Northwoods with former ENer and infamous STer Murphy'sLaw.  Doing the whiteface thing for sure. I am staying around for Friday night and then leaving Saturday am only to come back early on Sunday am as my Mother is doing the half mary and I will be cheering her on.

Who else?

Comments

  • I'm arriving Thurs night with Dana and Carly hopefully around 9pm. We're staying at Northwoods too.

Chris: Have fun at the Whiteface TT---that is one tough (but gorgeously scenic on a clear day!) climb.
  • So bummed I can't be there.....have fun everyone!!!

  • I'm arriving Thursday afternoon but not in time to do Whiteface...shame cuz I'm more fit, less fat, and have a compact, 26-11 on the bike . I'm sure I'd have a much better experience this year than last.

Facebook says we have over 50 people RSVP(!) so I'm very curious to see what this camp looks like.

  • Keith, Tracy and I are driving up together Thursday and should arrive by late afternoon/early evening. We're all staying at Northwoods, I believe.
  • I'm working up a doc with the camp schedule, details, etc. I'll post it in the forum, on the Camps tab above, through Facebook and the team update email next week.

  • I'm in, arriving around 5 on Thurs. May do a swim before dinner. Staying through Sunday, at the Northwoods.
  • Driving up on thursday should be there by 6. Staying till sunday.
  • I'm in at Northwoods - should be there late afternoon on Thursday - may try and swim too before other workouts begin on Friday
  • I'm in. I'm bringing a buddy of mine. Staying @ Northwoods as well.
Not sure about Whiteface. I'd like to do it, but I'm a big guy and I know it will really hurt image
  • I'm driving up with Tracy (and hopefully Suzanne . . .). I'm staying at Northwoods. I hope to be there by 4 or so, and I'd rather do a 35-40 minute one-loop swim than go for a run. Or maybe both. I registered for the LP 1/2 Marathon on Sunday, so I'll be jogging that and then leaving for home at about noon.
  •  anyone joining in the fun of the whiteface climb on Thursday?

  • Chris, I'm on the redeye to Boston then a biplane to Saranac. I'll be in LP about noon, dunno what time my bike will be there (FedEx) but I will likely need to catch an hour or two of sleep before my talk at 6p or whatever. I don't do well for a day or two when I fly east and the redeye is going to throw me for a loop.

  • Chris, I don't think I'll be able to wrap things up at work in time for you to hand me my arse on Whiteface.

It would be nice to have some "normal sized" company for the ride up.  Those freakin ST guys are all like 150 pound wonders and climb like the wind.  What time are you hitting town officer Ford?

  •  The redeye freakin sux, no doubt about that.

  • I cannot make it as I have promotional study class Thursday and Friday

  • Chris, I'm starting to think about trying to head up a little earlier to give the TT a try. How long is the ride, and is this a huge mistake with my first ever IM RR ride the next day?
  • Mike, I recommend you save the experience for another time. The climb is a grind, about 8 miles at a very, very, mind numbingly consistent 8% grade with about...3 turns. I did it last year without much fitness, too much weight on a borrowed bike with 53/39 and 23-12. I almost tossed the bike off the side of the mountain.

Short answer is that it's an epic "I did it" climb but not the best way to set yourself up for a quality RR the next day.

  • I'm in.... riding up with Kitima!

Rich - so glad you didn't toss that bike, I'm very fond of it!

I'll be there as well on Thursday. Should be heading out for a swim around 3 if I get there on time. Also staying at Northwoods. RR#2 for me on Friday and heading out first thing on Saturday. Look forward to seeing those attending the dinner on Friday.

  • Rich, I learned my lesson this OS to listen when you recommend NOT doing something. Think I will be doing that swim i was planning on instead. Thanks!
  • Dominic, it wasnt your bike. This was a Ti Seven (or Merlin, I forget) that I borrowed for the June camp. The bike was fine (though loose like a noodle) but the gear just ripped out my soul on Whiteface. I was a hollow shell of a man afterwards....

  •  What time will everyone be at the pub until on Thursday?  I'll be getting into the area after 8pm and was wondering if anyone will be there after I get camp set up.

  •  I imagine that I will be at the pub until after 8 on Thursday.  We will likely not be back from whiteface until 7 or so.

  • The (bald) Eagle has landed! I'm in LP at Starbucks (natch, trying to rally), likely going back to the hotel for lunch and use the wifi in the lobby. Figure I'll be at the pub at 5:30 before my talk at 6:30.

I'll tweet all of this, and stuff all weekend, pushing it to the homepage so either follow @teamen on Twitter or visit the homepage.

  • Lookin like rain so calling an audible: talk is now in lobby (upstairs) of northwoods inn @ 6:30Lookin like rain so calling an audible: talk is now in lobby (upstairs) of northwoods inn @ 6:30
  •  @Rich, how long will you and others be there tonight?  I will be getting in later and don't want to hang alone!!!

    Dan

  • The talk will likely go until 7:30 so I imagine we'll be here until 9p. Go to the lobby upstairs, you'll see the EN banner, etc. We'll likely be in the bar upstairs.
