Di2 install on BMC TM01

I'm going to install Di2 on BMC TM01 and trying to sort my wiring plan. Big question is which junction box to use up front. Does anyone know if ew90B (5 port) will fit in the stem/top tube area? Optimally would like to conceal the junction box vs mount externally under the stem. And open to any other guidance for install. Note I'm only planning on the bar end shifters up front not bullhorn shifters. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

  • Is there a specific reason you aren't adding the bullhorn shifters? On a tri bike that's where 90% of the benefit is found.

As far as the junction...what I like to do it mount it externally for training so I can easily acces to check battery life and charge. I only hide it when I race. And I've never had any problem mounting the 5 port junction on my P5 or my Alpha X bars on my Ventum. Note that if you really don't want bullhorn shifters you could go with a 3 port junction but there is very little size differential between the two.
  • Thanks Jeremy. I'll eventually add on the bullhorn shifters but not in the budget right now. Ill play around with different locations for junction. I got the 5 port so can add on bullhorns.
  • Hi Patrick,
i have the exact same setup - Di2 on TM01. shifters only on the bar ends. I went with the 3 port, just to keep it easier / cheaper and am not planning on adding shifters on the brakes as I ride aero most of the time. I have the junction box outside of the stem where all the wires go inside. I'd add a picture but not sure how to do that. Couple of points - while there is a charging port on the junction box, that only works with the round battery that goes in the seat post. I have the regular battery underneath and need to take it out to charge it. Also it is handy to have the junction box accessible to 1 - check battery life, and 2 - make adjustments to the derailers. you put the junction box in 'adjustment' mode and then fine tune the setup with the shifters. I also have dual button shifters on both bar ends, one for the front and the other for the rear derailer. hope that helps.
