What are the chances a 1/2 size larger will fix shoe issue?

I've currently got LG Tri-X Speed 2 size 38, w/speedplay. I've also got a black and blue big left toe that has *almost* recovered from last season of cycling. I did get some good suggestions earlier on other shoe brands, but they seem impossible to find for women and/or in my size, whereas LGs are pretty easy (and the colors are great for my bike/kit ;-) What's the chance that getting a half size larger will fix the problem? Figured I'd upgrade to the Tri-400 while I'm at it since the Clymb has a huge sale, but if the problem is still likely with the larger shoe, let me know I should give up my LG shoe fetish already and try another brand. Tx!

  • Hello Catherine - a larger size should help. That black toe could be from a small shoe, pulling up on the pedal stroke, or a toe box that doesn't fit your foot. The toe box was my issue last year - I switched from Specialized to a Bont shoe and that solved the problem.

Trying on the shoes is the hardest part if you're ordering online - get two sizes knowing you'll ship one of them back. If neither are supremely comfortable don't hesitate to send them both back and try a different brand.
