Timex Global Trainer...on its way to my house!!

Pulled the trigger this morning now that REI has them in stock.  Only one store in the Bay Area has them on hand, but I'm not driving an hour and a half for it, so it's being shipped.

Glad to see that they've finally released battery longevity numbers for the unit: 15 hours.

The VERY pleasant surprise - price.  REI sells the 310xt at $349, but the Timex was only $275.  Yeah, 75 bones cheaper.  And free shipping for members, and I had an $18 dividend on account.

Full report when it arrives...

  • Can you download it to WKO+?
  • Interesting buy Mike.  Give us the low down when you run it through it's "paces".

  • gotta love new toys

  • i'm going to be very curious about this. i have the older timex with that stupid thing you wear on your arm. it's not real bad, but not great either. i went to pull the trigger on the 310xt a few weeks ago, but the REI i went to didn't have it in stock. i haven't been running, so just put it on the back burner to buy later. now i need to wait for the report on this....decisions, decisions....
  • @Kitima - According to the WKO support site, they do support the Timex Bodylink...so I'm hopeful.  I'll try it out when it gets here.

  • They say they support the Timex Bodylink, but it's not really the case. When you import data all you really get is the HR data--- no NP, IF, etc. I'm hoping this watch is a full download.
  • DC Rainmaker put up his initial thoughts and I'm sure he will have another very detailed review soon:

I thought this was a good picture of his to show the size:

  • Cool pic mat, that puts things into a better perspective. Love DC's blog, very glad I read:

And finally, there is NOT 1-second recording – generally considered to be a ‘requirement’ for effective analysis of power meter data.  Everything is done at the 2-second interval.  Finally, it doesn’t support the cadence sensor built into many power meters (Quarq, Cinqo, etc…).

Hopefully they can fix that in a subsequent update, but that is a *huge* deal-breaker for me.

  • That's a rolling pin he's got them on. Another good object to compare these to would be the top of a soda can. The 310 XT and the Bodylink are about the size of the raised rim at the top of that can. I can't imagine swimming with either of those, or running a race with one either.
