Power Meter

I can get a good deal on either the Garmin Vector pedals or the Stages meter on a Dura Ace crank. Does anyone have any comments on either?

  • I've had a Stages on the left crank of my road bike for a couple of years. It's rock solid, plays well with my Garmin watch and PowerTap Joule head units. Consistent readings, starts right up every time. Don't have the Vectors (I do have PowerTap P1 pedals), but I;ve heard (a) they are finicky in terms of needing frequent calibration and (b) require a special tool and attention when removing from one and putting on to another bike.
  • Thanks, Al. Good info. I was sort of leaning toward Stages.
  • I've got a 2nd gen quarq on my tri bike w/ speedplay pedals, p1 pedals on my road bike and no power on my mtb with shimano pedals.

One of my coached athletes bought a stages a few months ago and he's not had any problems with them, but that's the only interaction I've had with them. My quarq is rock solid though!
