  • I'll be there! I've been doing this race on and off since before it was an official 70.3.

One year, they even offered the "Texas Two Step", which was a sprint on Saturday and the half/70.3 on Sunday.
  • I'm in.
    Second time doing this one.

  • Howdy y'all!

I'm an EN newbie, joined at the beginning of the November OS. Im excited to be doing my first 70.3 in Galveston, and later this year my first full at Alaskaman in July. Ive been doing sprints, olympics and running events up to marathon distance for the past 3 years, as well as some long distance backpacking trips. 2017 is the year to get the long distance tri out of my system before returning to marathoning and knocking out the rest of the World Majors (ok I've only got 1 so far lol).

My goals for this race are to PR (which I'll do by finishing!) and use as a learning curve for long distance racing nutrition.

@Scott, I didn't know the history of the race, that Texas 2 step sounds interesting
  • Hi guys - I'm signed up but might be missing it if my hammy does not fully improve.  I completely stopped running 12 days ago and am now on day 2 of my sloooowww ramp up.  So far so good, we'll see.  This will be my second time to race this course.  Goal is sub 5.
  • Behave Wendy. Take your time.
  • I am a definite maybe. Was looking forward to getting back to this race again but jacked my achilles during my first 5k run test of the December out season and am only back to running at all this week. 14.5 pain free but very slow miles this week has me optimistic that I could at least be able to get around the course in a couple of months. I guess I will know more as the month progresses...
  • Oh no! Glad your back to running Jimmy, take it easy as you start back
  • I'm completely under-trained (I prefer "over-tapered! haha) for Galveston, but I'm going and participating nonetheless!

I've also got 5 coached athletes participating, so I've got other reasons to go that aren't about me.

Anyone have a suggestion for a Saturday night dinner spot for about 10 people?
  • I don't have any idea Scott sorry! Keep me updated, I think I've got Cobb Mobb plans Saturday night but I hope to get to meet you
